OBJECTIVE:To investigate the potential association between prostaglandin E receptor 4(PTGER4)polymorphisms and the susceptibility and clinical features of inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD)in Zhuang and Han population in Guangxi.METHODS: We genotyped 99 Zhuang [59 ulcerative colitis(UC)and 40Crohn's disease(CD)] and 113 Han(69 UC and 44 CD)unrelated patients with inflammatory bowel disease and 90 Zhuang and 100 Han healthy individuals from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region by PCR direct sequencing. The frequency of genotype and allele and their correlation between the clinical features of UC and CD were calculated individually.RESULTS: The frequencies of mutation genotypes and alleles in Han CD group were higher than those in normal control group at rs4495224 and rs7720838 loci, but there was no significant difference in mutation genotype andallele frequency between Han UC group,Zhuang UC group and CD group compared with normal control group(p > 0.05).In Han CD group, there was no significant difference in genotype frequency and allele frequency of rs4495224 and rs7720838 loci in different lesion sites, disease activity and complications.CONCLUSION: The PTGER4 gene rs4495224 and rs7720838 polymorphisms may be associated with susceptibility of CD in the Han population from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China.
