Objective:To investigate the changes and correlation of IFN-gamma and homocysteine in patients with aortic stenosis,in order to provide new ideas for finding treatment targets.Methods:68 patients with aortic stenosis were studied in Institute of Cardiovascular Disease,First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University, excluding heart failure(cardiac function more than Level?-?),inflammation,infection,cancer,autoimmune diseases, metabolic diseases and other factors could have effect on our study, the patients were divided into calcified aortic stenosis group(CAS group)and rheumatic aortic stenosis group(RAS group)according to their age, medical history, cardiac color doppler ultrasound results, shape and structure of aortic valve. There were 66 healthy volunteers in the normal control group, whose age and sex are similar to the experiment group. We collected the serum of these people, and detected IFN-gamma protein level in serum by ELISA and homocysteine concentration by biochemical rate method detection before surgery, then the IFN-gamma protein level and the homocysteine level in different group were analyzed by statistical analysis. Results:All Patinents with aortic stenosis, including calcified aortic stenosis and rheumatic aortic stenosis, whose blood serum levels of IFN-gamma protein and homocysteine were higher than those in the normal control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Although the levels of IFN-gamma and HCY in patients with calcified aortic stenosis and patients with rheumatic aortic stenosis were different, there was no significant difference(P>0.05).The Spearman correlation coefficient r_S was 0.041 and P was 0.008,indicated that serum IFN-gamma was positively correlated with HCY.Conclusions:IFN-gamma and HCY levels were higher in patients with aortic stenosis than in normal people, suggesting that IFN-and HCY may participate in the process of aortic stenosis in human.
