Objective : The existing researches have revealed that metabolic syndrome may play a momentous role in the prostate cancer, however, the relationship with the progress of prostate cancer is unclear. The study is intended to explore the correlation between the progression of prostate cancer and metabolic syndrome as well as its components,in order to provide reference for clinical prediction of prostate cancer progression and prognosis.Method: Collecting clinical and outpatient follow-up data of patients who were treated in our hospital urologic surgery clinic from December2013 to December 2015,and diagnosed with prostate cancer to carry out retrospective analysis.According to combining metabolic syndrome or not,the study population was divided into prostate cancer combined with metabolic syndrome group(observation group),prostate cancer uncombined metabolic syndrome group(control group)to compare the development of prostate cancer in these two groups of patients and the time of castration resistance prostate cancer,so that analyze the correlation between metabolic syndrome, its components and the progress of prostate cancer.Result: 184 patients were included in the study, and 116 patients finally included according to the exclusion criteria.Among them, there were 33 patients in the observation group(28.4%),83 patients in the control group(71.6%),and the age of diagnosis was from 56 to 87 years. There was no statistical difference(P=0.242)in the age distribution of the patients between the two groups.Compared PSA<20NG/ML with PSA?20NG/ML subgroup, there was no statistical difference(P=0.224)between the proportion of PSA?20NG/ML in observation group and the control group.Compared with Gleason score <8 and Gleason score ?8 subgroup, the proportion of Gleason score ? 8 in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P=0.007).The time of disease progress to castration resistance prostate cancer in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(14.2±5.7 months vs27.4±7.0months,P=0.004).There was a statistical difference between the progression of prostate cancer and the score of metabolic syndrome in 0,1,2 and 3(all P value <0.05).Conclusion: The prostate cancer combined with metabolic syndrome patients are associated with disease progress to castration resistance prostate cancer.Nonetheless, whether metabolic syndrome and its components are an independent risk factor for prostate cancer patients progressing faster to castration resistance prostate cancer,it still needs further study.
