Objective: Abnormal blood lipid levels lead to atherosclerosis being scientifically demonstrated. And cholesterol ester transfer protein plays an important role in regulating the transport of blood lipids, but its correlation with atherosclerosis has different conclusions. In order to clarify the relationship between them, this study explored the correlation between the cholesterol ester transporter CETP gene TaqIB(rs708272)polymorphism and the pathogenesis of atherosclerotic cerebral infarction. Methods: The genotypes of CETP gene TaqIB polymorphisms in 484 patients with atherosclerotic cerebral infarction and 551 age-and sex-matched healthy subjects were analyzed by multiple SNP typing techniques(iMLDR).We randomly selected 40 samples in each group to detect the protein expression levels of each genotype.Among them,396 patients with atherosclerotic cerebral infarction underwent B-ultrasound examination of the neck vessels, and the plaque properties were determined according to the B-ultrasound image. At the same time, the polymorphism of the TaqIB polymorphism and the atherosclerosis of the CETP gene were respectively observed.Logistic regression analysis was performed on the onset of atherosclerotic cerebral infarction and plaque stability.Results:(1)There were no significant difference in age, gender, alcohol consumption between the cerebral infarction group and the control group(P>0.05).Higher proportion of hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia and smoking were observed in the case group than in the control group(P<0.05);(2)Hypertension,diabetes,hyperlipidemia and smoking are independent risk factors for the onset of atherosclerotic cerebral infarction;(3)There was no significant difference in protien expression levels of different genotypes(F=0.039,P=0.961)in cerebral infarction group; There was no statistically significant difference in protein expression levels of different genotypes(F=1.577,P=0.220)in control group.(4)There was no significant difference in gender, age, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, smoking, drinking between unstable plaque group and stable plaque group(P>0.05).There were significant differences in hypertension between unstable plaque group and stable plaque group(P<0.05);(5)Univariate logistic regression analysis showed that age, hypertension, diabetes,TaqIB(GG)genotype may be a factor in the plaque nature of patients with atherosclerotic cerebral infarction;(6)Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that hypertension,TaqIB(GG)were independent risk factors for plaque stability in patients with atherosclerotic cerebral infarction.Conclusion:(1)CETP gene TaqIB polymorphism may be unrelated to the pathogenesis of atherosclerotic cerebral infarction;(2)There was no statistically difference in the protein expression levels of different genotype of CETP gene TaqIB polymorphism in case group and control group;(3)CETP gene TaqIB polymorphism may be related to the stability of carotid atherosclerotic plaque.
