| BackgroundCancer-related Fatigue(CRF)is a common clinical symptom suffered by Cancer patients.It refers to chronic Fatigue of the body,spirit and mental cognition.Cancer-related fatigue not only affects the daily function of patients,but also forces patients to interrupt the corresponding treatment often,leading to aggravation of the disease.Lung cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors worldwide,and its morbidity and mortality have risen sharply in recent years.Most patients with lung cancer undergoing chemotherapy experience different degrees of cancer-related fatigue.Up to now,its etiology and pathological mechanism are not clear,as the mainstream of Western medicine treatment has limitations,clinical treatment is mainly based on comprehensive treatment.TCM treatment has the characteristics of individualized treatment,overal1 regulation and less side effects,and has its unique effect in the treatment of cancer-related fatigue and deserves further development and research.Cancer patients are usually accompanied by insufficient positive Qi,deficiency of Qi,blood,Yin and Yang of viscera,or both phlegm,blood stasis,heat toxicity mutual knot.The treatment principle cannot be separated from the two aspects of strengthening and anti-cancer.Fuzheng Kang' ai Decoction is formulated according to the principles of strengthening the spleen and invigorating the lung,with the functions of strengthening spleen,reinforcing lung,clearing away heat,dispersing knot,removing blood stasis and detoxifying.Experiments and clinical studies show that this prescription can control the proliferation of cancer cells,prolong the survival time of patients with advanced lung cancer to some extent,reduce the toxicity and side effects of chemotherapy,and cooperate with western medicine treatment has synergistic and attenuating effects.ObjectiveTo observe the efficacy and safety of Fuzheng Kang'ai Decoction in treating cancer-related fatigue for advanced NSCLC undergoing chemotherapy,and provide an idea for clinical treatment of cancer-related fatigue with traditional Chinese medicine.MethodsA prospective randomized controlled study was conducted on 60 patients with advanced NSCLC undergoing chemotherapy in the Oncology Department of Guangdong Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital.Patients who met the inclusion criteria were divided into experimental group and control group by random number table method.The experimental group was treated with Fuzheng Kang' ai Granule on the basis of conventional western medicine chemotherapy,while the control group was treated with placebo on the basis of conventional western medicine chemotherapy.The effects and adverse reactions of Fuzheng Kang' ai Decoction on CRF of patients before and after treatment were evaluated by FACIT-F scale,BFI scale,MFI-20 scale,QLQ-C30 scale and physical condition score.ResultsSixty patients with stage ?B-? advanced NSCLC were included in this clinical study.The experimental group and the control group were divided into 30 cases.The comparison of general baseline characteristics before intervention between the two groups showed no statistical significance and was comparable(P>0.05).The total score of FACIT-F,physical condition,emotional condition and additional concern in the experimental group after treatment were higher than those before treatment and better than those in the control group,the difference was significant(P<0.05).The total score of MFI-20 and the scores of mental fatigue in the experimental group after treatment were lower than those before treatment and in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The total score of BFI,current fatigue level,the general fatigue level and the maximum fatigue level within 24 hours,general activities and emotions in t.he treatment experimental group were lower than those before treatment and in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The scores of overall quality of life and emotional function in the experimental group after treatment were higher than those before treatment and in the control group,with statistical significance(P<0.05);The scores of fatigue and shortness of breath in the experimental group were lower than those before treatment and in the control group,and the difference was significant(P<0.05).ConclusionFuzheng Kang'ai Decoction can reduce the scores of MFI-20 and BFI scales and increase the scores of FACIT-F scales in patients with NSCLC to relieve cancer-related fatigue after chemotherapy.It can improve the overall quality of life and emotional function score of patients with advanced NSCLC after chemotherapy,alleviating discomfort symptoms of fatigue and shortness of breath.Fuzheng Kang ai Decoction has good clinical efficacy and safety in the treatment of cancer-related fatigue after chemotherapy for advanced NSCLC,which is worthy of further clinical study. |
