Objective: To investigate the effect of umbilical cord blood-assisted allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation on graft-versus-host disease and leukemia relapse. Methods:A total of 16 leukemia patients who recepted cord blood-assisted allo-HSCT(named the umbilical cord blood-assisted group)and 54 leukemia patients(named the control group)who recepted the allo-HSCT in the same period at the Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University from February 2016 to November 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. The cumulative incidence of Ⅰ-Ⅳ aGVHD,Ⅲ-Ⅳ aGVHD,cGVHD and cumulative relapse rate(RR)between the two groups were compared. Results:No umbilical cord blood was implanted in STR-PCR.The cumulative incidence of Ⅰ-Ⅳ grade aGVHD of umbilical cord blood-assisted group and control group was 31.3%(5/16)vs33.3(18/54),P = 0.566;The cumulative incidence of Ⅲ-Ⅳ grade aGVHD in the umbilical cord blood-assisted group and the control group was 0%(0/16)vs3.7 %(2/54)P = 0.593;The cumulative incidence of cGVHD in the umbilical cord blood-assisted group and the control group was 25.0%(4/16)vs.40.7%(22/54),P=0.199.The median relapse time in the umbilical cord blood group and the control group was 3.25(2.1-4.4)months and 8.1(4.6-13.8)months,respectively,with a cumulative relapse rate of 12.5%(2/16)vs27.8%(15/54),P=0.181.Conclusion:Umbilical cord blood was not implanted in umbilical cord blood assisted allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. There was no statistically significant difference between umbilical cord blood-assisted group and control group in the cumulative incidence ofⅠ-Ⅳ grade aGVHD 、Ⅲ-Ⅳ grade aGVHD 、cGVHD and cumulative the relapse rate in this study. But there was a downward trend in the cumulative incidence ofⅠ-Ⅳ grade aGVHD 、Ⅲ-Ⅳ grade aGVHD 、cGVHD and cumulative the relapse rate between umbilical umbilical cord blood-assisted group and control group. It still needs to expand the number of cases to verify its effectiveness.
