Objectives To detect the content of Carcinoembryonic Antigen-related Cell Adhesion Molecule 8(CEACAM8)in bladder cancer patients, patients with urinary system other than bladder cancer and healthy subjects, and to investigate the clinical value of CEACAM8 in the diagnosis of bladder cancer. Methods The urine of 32 patients with bladder cancer,32 patients with non-bladder cancer and healthy subjects were collected. The concentration of CEACAM8 in urine samples was determined by ELISA.Results 1 The concentration of CEACAM8 in the urine of bladder cancer group(2.344±0.581ng/ml)was significantly different from the concentration of CEACAM8 in the urine of non-bladder cancer group(1.822±0.443ng/ml)(P<0.001);2 There was no significant difference in the concentration of CEACAM8 in the low-grade bladder cancer group(2.316±0.47 ng/ml)compared with the concentration of CEACAM8 in the highgrade group(2.386±0.734 ng/ml),indicating the expression level of CEACAM8 in bladder cancer and Sensitivity was not related to tumor grade(P>0.05).3 The area under the ROC curve(Area Under the Cure,AUC)of the CEACAM8 concentration in urine of patients with bladder cancer was 0.832,compared with the CEACAM8 in non-bladder cancer urine,P<0.001,with a cutoff value of 1.833 ng/ml,the sensitivity of CEACAM8 for detecting bladder cancer was 96.9%,and the specificity was 78.1%(95% CI: 0.718,0.946).Conclusions CEACAM8 can be detected in the urine of bladder cancer group and nonbladder cancer group. The difference of CEACAM8 concentration in urine of different pathological grades of bladder cancer group is not obvious, with a cutoff value of 1.833ng/ml,the sensitivity of CEACAM8 in urine to bladder cancer diagnosis was as high as96.9% and specificity was 78.1%.CEACAM8 has high clinical value in the diagnosis, screening and monitoring of bladder cancer, however, the significance of different pathological grades of bladder cancer remains to be further studied.Figure 6;Table 4;Reference 150.
