Objective:To detect the expressions of ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 in pancreatic cancer tissues, measure the serum soluble intercellular adhesion molecular-1(sICAM-l) and soluble vascular cell adhesion molecular-1(sVCAM-l) in patients with pancreatic cancer, study their relations to the biological characterization of pancreatic cancer,to clarify the role of ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 in the invasion and metastasis of pancreatic cancer and anti-adhesion on molecules to pancreatic cancer,to prevent recurrence and metastasis of pancreatic cancer,to get an objective therapeutic evaluation and judgment of prognosis for patients with pancreatic cancer. Methods:Specimens from 32 pancreatic cancer patients, 17 pancreatitis patients,21 normal tissues, image analysis with the methods of immunohistochemistry followed.Analysis the correlation between their expressions and clinic pathologic features and prognostic of pancreatic cancer patients.ELSIA technique was used to measure serum concentration of sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 in 25 patients with pancreatic cancer without treatment before operation or chemotherapy in the same patients without complication one week later after operation or chemotherapy. The changes of serum sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 level were analyzed pre-operation and post-operation,pre-chemotherapy and post-chemotherapy.Meanwhile the serum CEA and CA19-9 of 25 pancreatic cancer patients were tested.Result one(immunohistochemistry)1.The positive expression of ICAM-1 was 84.4% in pancreatic cancer tissues and 52.9% in chronic pancreatitis tissues and 19.0% in normal pancreatic tissues. The expression of ICAM-1 in pancreatic cancer tissues was significantly higher than that in chronic pancreatitis tissues and in normal control group(P<0.05;P<0.01).2.25 out of 32(78.1%) tissues of pancreatic cancer had the expression of VCAM-1,8 out of 17(47.1%) tissues in patients with chronic pancreatitis had the expression of...
