A new type of Milk-Alkali Syndrome(MAS)is being regressed as widespread use of calcium therapy for osteoporosis or health maintenance.The MAS consists of hypercalcemia,metabolic alkalosis and renal insufficiency.In addition,hyperphosphatemia,low serum 25-hydroxy vitamin D and PTH level,especially the low T3 syndrome were also found.As for the management of the MAS,withdrawal of the offending agent and intravenous volume expansion are the most important initial steps.Here,a case of MAS would be reported of who took excess calcium carbonate combined with antacids.The clinical characteristics of modern MAS would be reviewed.
