Objective:To explore the optimal moxibustion duration of modified long snake moxibustion for CFS by comparing the moxibustion sensation and therapeutic effect of modified long snake moxibustion with different moxibustion duration in treating CFS of spleen-kidney Yang deficiency.Methods:99 subjects were randomly assigned to three groups(33 per group)with randomized controlled method. All subjects were treated with a total of 12 times modified long snake moxibustion and acupuncture(3 times per week for 4 weeks).Group A was treated with modified long snake moxibustion for 45 min, group B was treated with modified long snake moxibustion for 60 min,and group C was treated with modified long snake moxibustion for 90 min.To evaluate the difference of clinical efficacy among the three groups by FSS,spleen-kidney Yang deficiency syndrome score scale,SDS,SAS and SF-36.The correlation of moxibustion sensation-curative effect and the difference of moxibustion sensation among the3 groups were evaluated by analyzing the relationship between moxibustion sensation score and the improvement of FSS.Results:1.The baseline and case completion data were comparable between the three groups(P>0.05).2.In terms of efficacy:FSS:All three treatment regimens reduced the score of FSS,the differences were significant(P<0.05).Comparison among groups:group B>group C>group A,the differences were significant(P<0.05).Spleen-kidney Yang deficiency Scale: All three treatment regimens reduced the score of Spleen-kidney Yang deficiency Scale, the differences were significant(P<0.05).Comparison among groups:group B=group C>group A,thedifferences were significant(P<0.05).SDS:All three treatment regimens reduced the score of SDS,the differences were significant(P<0.05).Comparison among groups, the differences were not significant(P>0.05).SAS:All three treatment regimens reduced the score of SAS,the differences were significant(P<0.05).Comparison among groups:group C>group B,the difference was significant(P<0.05).SF-36:All three treatment regimens improved the scores of SF-36,the differences were significant(P<0.05).Comparison among groups:group B>group C>group A,the differences were significant(P<0.05).3.In terms of moxibustion sensation:the score of moxibustion sensation scale has a positive correlation with the curative effect. The score of moxibustion sensation scale:group B>group C>group A,the differences were significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:1.The fatigue symptoms,TCM symptoms,depression,anxiety-related symptoms and quality of life of CFS patients can be significantly improved after the intervention of long snake moxibustion combined with acupuncture therapy.2.The three interventions produced different curative effects:moxibustion for 60min>moxibustion for 90 min>moxibustion for 45 min.3.The three interventions produced different moxibustion sensation:moxibustion for 60 min>moxibustion for 90 min>moxibustion for 45 min.4.Considering the curative effect and moxibustion sensation, the duration of60 min should be selected as the optimal moxibustion duration of modified long snake moxibustion for CFS.
