According to the statistics of the World Health Organization in 2017,the total number of depressive patients in the world is 322 million, and the prevalence rate is about 4.4%.The prevalence of depression in China is4.2%.Moreover,the total number of depressive patients is estimated to have increased by 18.4% between 2005 and 2015.The prevalence rate of women(5.1%)was higher than that of men(3.6%).In terms of age distribution,55-74 years old people are susceptible to depression, while it can not be ignored that 15-19 years old adolescents,of which the prevalence rate of adolescent males is about 3.1%,and that of adolescent females is about 4.6%.Therefore,the prevention and treatment of depression has become a hot topic in the field of psycho-psychological science.Cognitive Behavior Therapy(CBT),as a short-term psychotherapy, has its own advantages by changing the way of thinking and behavior to change bad cognition and eliminate bad emotions and behaviors. However, because of the high threshold of implementation,it is hindered in its promotion and application. As a method designed by Lewinsohn and his colleagues in the early 1970 s for the treatment of depression, the behavioral activation therapy described in this paper has the characteristics of simple operation, easy implementation and easy promotion. It has been proved by many experiments that the psychotherapeutic effect of behavioral activation therapy is not weaker than that of behavioral activation therapy. This article will elaborate the current research situation and mechanism of behavioral activation therapy for depression and its future development prospects.
