The metabolic syndrome(MS)is a kind of abnormal metabolic syndrome, acting as risk factors for cardiovascular disease due to insulin resistance.Pregnant women as a special kind of population would be involved in physiological changes of glucolipid metabolism during pregnancy. The stability of basic metabolism is very important for maternal and fetal development. Therefore, the metabolic syndrome in pregnant women cannot be ignored.Retinol Binding Protein-4(RBP-4)is a kind of adipokine.Recent studies on the RBP4 and related adipokines have found that RBP4 is not only the correlation factor of obesity and insulin resistance(IR)in patients with diabetes, but also closely associating with the metabolic syndrome and prognosis of children.ObjectiveBy analyzing and exploring negative influence and related factors of the metabolic syndrome on pregnancy to find out whether RBP4 play the role of predictive value for metabolic syndrome in pregnant women or not.Content1.Research objectPregnant women underwent systematic antenatal examination and gave birth to baby in the Xinhua hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong university school of Medicine from August 2014 to June 2015,were divided into three groups as followed: pregnancy-induced metabolic syndrome, pregnancy with abnormal metabolism and pregnancy with normal metabolism.2.MethodsTo review medical history of the research object and conduct statistical analysis of baseline condition such as age, gestational age and pregestational weight, and fasting blood glucose(FPG),blood pressure, total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG)and retinol binding protein-4,fetal situation in the uterus and pregnancy complications and so on.ResultsIncidence rate of adverse events during pregnancy in the pregnancy-induced metabolic syndrome group and pregnancy with abnormal metabolism was higher than that in the normal group. There were significant differences between the pregnancy-induced metabolic syndrome group, pregnancy with abnormal metabolism group and pregnancy with normal metabolism group in comparing levels of retinol binding protein-4.Conclusions1.Pregnancy metabolic stability was very important to mother's womb and gestational metabolic syndrome(GMS)and gestational metabolic disorder(GMD)would increase risk of maternal-fetal adverse outcome greatly.Occurrence rate of polyhydramnios, premature rupture of fetal membrane and pregnancy complicating positive GBS,and prenatal fever in the GMS group were significantly higher than that in the normal control group and gestational metabolic disorder group, with significant differences(P<0.05),and cesarean section rate was increased by gestational metabolic syndrome and gestational metabolic disorder significantly.2.Level of retinol binding protein-4 in the GMS group was higher than that in the GMD group and normal control group(p<0.001).3.High retinol binding protein-4,big pre-pregnancy BMI and rapid weight gains during pregnancy, advanced maternal age and high basal blood pressure were risk factors for gestational metabolic syndrome.4.Gestational metabolic syndrome would produce harmful effect both on expectant mother and mother's womb.High retinol binding protein-4,big pre-pregnancy BMI and rapid weight gains during pregnancy, advanced maternal age and high basal blood pressure were risk factors for gestational metabolic syndrome. In addition, retinol binding protein-4 has played important role in predicting metabolic syndrome for pregnant women.
