The Change And Significance Of Serum Retinol Binding Protein4in Timing Of OGTT In Patients With Gestational Diabetes Mellitus

Objective To investigate the change and significance of serum retinol binding protein4(RBP4)in timing of oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM).Methods From May2008to May2010,forty-five women with GDM and forty-five healthy pregnant women were included in24-28weeks at Women’s Hospital of Zhejiang University Medical College. The GDM was diagnosed based on National Diabetes Data Group (NDDG) criteria. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to measure the fasting serum concentrations of RBP4in all pregnant women. Chemoluminescence method was used to measure the serum levels of fasting insulin(FINS).Serum triglyceride(TG) and total cholesterole (TG) were measured by enzyme process, and calculated the home model insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR).Results (1) The serum concentrations of RBP4in GDM group (34.7±6.1)Mu/L was significantly higher compared with control group(24.4±3.2) Mu/L (P<0.05).(2)The fasting insulin did not differ significantly between women with GDM (14.7±5.1mU/L) and those in control group(11.1±4.4mU/).(3) The serum TC and TG in GDM group(6.9±2.1)mmoL/L、(5.8±1.4) mmoL/L, were significantly higher than that in control group (4.6±1.7)mmoL/L、(2.7±0.7)mmoL/L(P<0.05).(4) Univariate regression analyses showed that there were no correlations of the fasting plasma glucose and the levels of fasting insulin with the serum concentrations of RBP4in two groups; In GDM group the serum concentrations of RBP4were positively correlated with HOMA-IR、plasma glucose after1hour and2hour at OGTT (r=0.46、0.39、0.38、0.34, P＜0.05)Conclusions The serum concentrations of RBP4in patient with gestational diabetes mellitus was higher than the healthy pregnant women in timing of OGTT, And the elevated serum concentrations of RBP4is correlated with the elevated plasma glucose after ingestion of glucose、HOMA-IR and the abnormal lipid metabolism.
