Objective: To compare the clinical effects of singl-row,double-row and suture-bridge in the treatments of medium-sized rotator cuff tears and to explore their clinical advantages and provide guidances for the selection of repair methods for rotator cuff tears. Methods: According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,90 patients with medium-sized rotator cuff tears and being admitted and treated in our department from January 2012 to December 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. There are 30 cases in each of single-row repair group,double-row repair group and suture-bridge repair group. In the SR(single-row)group,there are 18 males and 12 females with an average age(58.07±12.24)years.In the DR(double-row)group,there are 17 males and 13 females with an average age(59.93±13.79)years.In the SB(suture-bridge)group,there are 20 males and 10 females with an average age(57.47±10.73)years.All patients were diagnosed with rotator cuff tears and the sizes of rotator cuff tears were measured by the X-ray and MRI before surgery.According to the follow-up results in December after repair, statistical software SPSS 22.0 was used to compare and analyze the preoperative and postoperative UCLA scores,Constant scores,VAS scores, operation times and quantities of anchor in the three groups. Results: All patients of follow-up had no serious complications such as infection, blood vessels or nerve injuries and rotator cuff tears again.Evaluation indexes of three methods were obviously improved after repair, the differences were statistically significant(p < 0.05).The differences of various scores among three groups have no statistical significance(p > 0.05),while the differences of operation times and quantities of anchor nail used among three groups are statistically significant(p < 0.05).Furthermore,there are statistically significant differences(p < 0.05)of operation times and quantities of anchor nail used between SR group and DR group,SR group and SB group,DR group and SB group Conclusion: All three kinds of repair techniques can achieve satisfactory clinical effects early in the treatment of medium-sized rotator cuff tears and their clinical effects are the same;In the treatments of medium-sized rotator cuff tears, the operation times and quantities of anchor nails of single-row repair technique were the least. The operation times of suture-bridge repair technique were less than that of double-row repair technique, but the quantities of anchor nails used were more than that of double-row repair technique. In clinical practices, when selecting appropriate repair methods for patients with rotator cuff tears, important factors such as the type of rotator cuff tear, the patient’s health condition, the patient’s tolerance to the operation times, and the patient’s expectation of the operation cost should be taken into account.
