Purpose:To investigate the expression of NRP-1,VEGF and CD40 in the vitreous of proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR).Materials and Methods: Vitreous samples were obtained from 20 eyes of 20 patients with PDR and from 17 eyes of 17 cases without diabetic. The NRP-1?VEGF and CD40 expression in the vitreous was measured by using an enzyme? linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Results: The expression of NRP-1 in vitreous from PDR cases was 3816.38585±724.009233 pg/ml and from control cases was 8.51035±4.755384 pg/ml.The expression of NRP-1 in vitreous from PDR cases was 3816.38585±724.009233 pg/ml and from control cases was 8.51035±4.755384 pg/ml.The expression of CD40 in vitreous from PDR cases was 235.15065±124.491156 pg/ml and from control cases was 47.42388±15.456125 pg/ml.Levels of NRP-1?VEGF and CD40 in vitreous were higher in PDR patients compared with control group. There was a correlation between NRP-1 and VEGF in PDR patients(r 2 = 0.038,P = 1.466,p <0.05),Correlation between CD40 and VEGF(r2=0.023,P=1.505,p<0.05).Conclusion: NRP-1 is elevated in the vitreous of PDR patients, and Secretory NRP-1(sNRP-1)was found in the vitreous of PDR patients.VEGF is elevated in the vitreous of PDR patients, and VEGF is an influential factor of PDR and is related to the pathogenesis of PDR.CD40 is elevated in the vitreous of PDR patients, and Secretory CD40(sCD40)was found in the vitreous of PDR patients. There was a positive correlation between NRP-1 and VEGF in vitreous of PDR patients. And There was a positive correlation between CD40 and VEGF in vitreous of PDR patients.
