Objective To understand the health literacy status and influencing factors of residents in Gansu province,as well as to know about the changes and the differences of changing of the residents' health literacy in Gansu province in 2015 and 2017,which are used to identify the weak links,key areas and key crowds in the improvement of health literacy of residents in Gansu,so as to provide references for carrying out health education and health promotion further and formulating health related policies in the future.Methods A multistage systematic sampling method was used to select permanent residents aged 15~69 from 87 counties in Gansu province.The effective sample sizes in 2015 and 2017 were 22,048 and 23,054,respectively.SPSS 19.0software was used for analyzing of the data,and the second-order Rao-Scott adjusted chi-square test was used for rate comparison.The test level is 0.05.Results 1.In 2015 and in 2017,the health literacy level of residents in Gansu province was 4.7% and 8.9%,respectively.In 2015,he rates of health related skills,basic health knowledge and concept,and healthy lifestyle and behaviors were 10.2%,9.1% and 7.8%,respectively.In 2017,the rates of basic health knowledge and concept,health related skills,healthy lifestyle and behaviors were 18.8%,11.0% and10.6%,respectively.In 2015,among the health literacy rates of six health issues,the health literacy rates of the safety and first aid was the highest(36.4%),while the chronic disease prevention literacy rate was the lowest(4.1%).And in 2017,the health literacy of scientific attitude towards health was the highest(32.9%),while the chronic disease prevention literacy rate was the lowest(12.8%).2.Compared with the year of 2015,the health literacy level of Gansu's residents in 2017(8.9%)was increased by 4.2 percentage points(?2=71.306,P<0.05).Among the three aspects of literacy,basic knowledge and concept literacy was improved themost,which promoted by 9.7 percentage points and 107%.Secondly,the level of healthy lifestyle and behavior quality was improved by 2.8 percentage points and 36%.The level of basic skills and literacy was improved the least,which promoted just by0.8 percentage points and 8%.Among the six categories of health literacy,except for the decline of safety and first aid literacy,the other five categories of health literacy have been improved.Among them,the literacy level of scientific health concept was improved the most,by 9.6 percentage points and 41%.Secondly,the literacy level of chronic disease prevention and treatment improved by 8.7 percentage points,by212%.3.Among the residents in different groups,the health literacy level of residents in rural areas,residents of han nationality,residents aged 15~34 years,residents with junior college/bachelor's degree or above,residents with family income no less than5000 yuan,and civil servants have been relatively improved more(P <0.05).The health literacy of residents in rural areas,residents of ethnic minorities,old people aged 65~69 years,residents who can't read or write,farmers and residents whose family income is less than 500 yuan have improved relatively most in increasing rate(P <0.05).4.In 2015 and 2017,the distribution characteristics of the health literacy rate of residents in each group in Gansu province are: urban residents are significantly higher than rural residents;The Han nationality is significantly higher than the minorities.Except the age group of 15~24 years old,it showed a decreasing trend with the increase of age.With the increase of education level,the average monthly income of the family is on the rise.Medical workers had the highest number of occupations and farmers had the lowest number of occupations.The differences were statistically significant(all P values were less than 0.05).In 2015,there was no statistically significant difference between the health literacy rate of male residents and that of female residents.In 2017,males were higher than females,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).5.The independent influencing factors of health literacy of residents in Gansu province were ethnic group,age,education,occupation,family income and family population;The common independent influencing factors of 3 health literacy related aspects are ethnic group,education,occupation and family income.Conclusions 1.The health literacy level of residents in Gansu province is low.2.The literacy of health related skills is the weak links in improving the health literacy of residents in Gansu province,as well as the literacy of chronic disease prevention and basic medical care being the key areas,the Rural residents,the old,the ethnic minority residents,the low-income groups and the people with low education level being the key groups.3.Ethnic group,education,occupation and family income are independent influencing factors of health literacy of residents in Gansu province.4.Compared to the year of 2015,the differences of health literacy among different groups in Gansu province is more obvious.
