Objective: To investigate the effect of BMP-7 level in patients with acute cerebral infarction(ACI)and its relationship with the severity and prognosis.Methods: 118 patients with ACI(ACI group)and 105 healthy people(control group)were collected.The serum BMP-7 level was measured and the clinical data of all patients were recorded.The patients in ACI group were followed up for 3 months and their m RS scores were evaluated.To compare the level of BMP-7 in different stages of ACI group and healthy control group,and to observe the relationship between BMP-7 level and the degree of nerve damage,infarct volume and prognosis in ACI group.Results: The level of BMP-7 in ACI group was lower than that at 7 days after admission,and lower than that in control group.The result of Logistic regression showed that smoking,diabetes,coronary heart disease history and the levels of cystatin C,the level of BMP-7 was closely related to the incidence of the ACI.(P<0.05).The level of BMP-7 in mild group(63.676±8.049)was higher than that in severe group(55.498±8.089).The level of BMP-7 was negatively correlated with NIHSS score(r=-0.582,P=0.000).The level of BMP-7 in large infarct group(52.395 ±9.311)was lower than that in middle infarction group(57.019 ±5.392)and small infarction group(63.533 ±7.612).Middle infarction group was lower than small infarction group(P < 0.05).There was a negative correlation between the level of BMP-7 and infarct volume in ACI group(r =-0.561,P=0.000).The level of BMP-7 in patients with poor prognosis was lower than that in patients with good prognosis(P < 0.05).There was a negative correlation between the level of BMP-7 and m RS score of ACI patients(r=-0.494,P=0.000).The results of ROC curve showed that the sensitivity and specificity of BMP-7 level in predicting good prognosis were 91.4 percentage and 79.2 percentage,respectively,and the AUC=0878.Conclusion: 1.The serum BMP-7 level in patients with ACI were significantly decreased and associated with the incidence of ACI.2.The level of BMP-7 in patients with ACI showed dynamic change,and it was decreased significantly in acute phase,then gradually increased,but still lower than the level of control group.3.The level of BMP-7 in ACI group was negatively correlated with the volume of cerebral infarction and the degree of neurological deficit.4.The level of BMP-7 in acute phase of ACI was negatively correlated with the prognosis of the patients,while the BMP-7 level after 7 days was more accurate in predicting the prognosis of the patients with ACI.Therefore,BMP-7 may serve as a serological marker to evaluate the severity and prognostic of patients with ACI.
