Objective This study aimed to investigate the correlation between apparent diffusion coefficient histogram texture parameters with tumour markers and immunohistochemical indicators of rectal adenocarcinoma by using the apparent diffusion coefficient?ADC?of whole volume histogram analysis method obtained from magnetic resonance?MR?diffusion weighted imaging?DWI?.Methods A total of 64 patients with preoperative MRI data were collected and diagnosed as rectal adenocarcinoma by pathology.Region of interest?ROI?was manually drawn for each layer of tumor in the ADC image by using OmniKinetics software,and the texture parameters of the ADC histogram were automatically calculated by the post-processing software,including the values of minimum,maximum,median,mean,10th percentile,25th percentile,75th percentile,90th percentile,skewness and kurtosis.Levene test was used to analyze the homogeneity of variance for the ADC values between groups.Independent sample t test was used for homogeneity of variance,and mann-whitney U test was used for heterogeneity of variance.Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted between the ADC histogram parameters and tumor markers or immunohistochemical indicators of rectal adenocarcinoma.Results The ADCmin,ADC10,ADC255 values of lymph node metastasis group were lower than those in non lymph node metastasis group?P<0.05?.The ADCmean,ADC10,ADC255 and ADC75values were significantly lower in the groups with CA199 and CA72-4 high expression?P<0.05?.The kurtosis value of CA72-4 high expression group was higher than the low expression group with statistically significant difference?P=0.015?.The ADCmeanean and ADC755 values of CD31 and CD56 positive groups were significantly lower than those in the negative groups?P<0.05?.The ADCmin,ADCmax,ADCmeanean and ADC100 values of CDX-2 positive group were significantly lower than those in the negative groups?P<0.05?.ADCmedian,ADCmean,ADC255 and ADC755 values of the Ki-67 high expression group were significantly lower than those in the negative group?P<0.05?.In multiple linear regression analysis,ADCmean,ADC255 and ADC755 correlate with CD31,and ADC255 had the most robust effect on CD31?SC=0.219?.ADCmin,ADCmedian,ADC255 and the ADC755 correlate with CD56,and ADCMinin had the most robust effect on CD56?SC=0.193?.ADCmedian,ADCmean,ADC255 and ADC755 correlated with Ki-67,and the ADCmedianedian had the most robust effect on Ki-67?SC=0.218?.ADCmax,ADCMeanean and ADC100 correlate with CDX-2 and the ADC100 had the most robust effect on CDX-2?SC=0.238?.ADCmax,ADCmean,ADC10,ADC255 and ADC755 correlated with CA72-4 and the ADCmeanean had the most robust effect on CA72-4?SC=0.210?.ADCmin,ADCmedian,ADCmean,ADC10,ADC255 and ADC755 correlated with CA199 and the ADCmeanean had the most robust effect on CA199?SC=0.206?.Conclusion ADCmax,ADCmean,ADCmedian,ADC10,ADC255 and ADC755 were highly reliable in the application of rectal adenocarcinoma.Among them,ADCmean,ADC255 and ADC755 showed a higher correlation,which can be used as an important imaging index to evaluate the prognosis of the rectal adenocarcinoma.
