Zengshi Runfeizhike Soup For Chronic Cough Of Deficiency Of Lung Yin:A Clinical Obversation

BackgroundThe symptom of cough is one of the most common symptoms for which outpatient care is sought.Moreover,chronic cough patients account for up to 38%of the pneumology department outpatients.Due to complex etiologies and poor results of chronic cough,there is a recognised need to find an effective way to treat it.This thesis explores Zengshi Runfeizhike soup and dextromethorphan hydrobromide syrups for the treatment of chronic cough of deficiency of lung yin,in order to throw light on the effect of Zengshi Runfeizhike soup in clinical use.MethodsThe study utilised a comparison control group design with two groups of patients of chronic cough of deficiency of lung yin,who come from outpatients of Shenzhen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital pneumology department and Shenzhen Shekou People’s Hospital general clinic from June 1st 2018 to September 30th 2018.Patients randomized 1:1 to treatment group and control group.The treatment group were given Zengshi Runfeizhike soup twice a day for 7 days,in the meanwhile,the control group were given dextromethorphan hydrobromide syrups 10ml per time,twice a day for 7 days.Cough visual analogue scale(VAS)and Leicester Cough Questionnaire(LCQ)were collected from all patients before treatment and 7 days after treatment.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)cough efficacy grade were collected from all patients after treatment.SPSS 22.0 was used to analyzed the difference values of VAS and LCQ of the two groups.ResultsThere are 72 patients enrolled in the study with equal patients in treatment group and control group.The difference values of VAS was significantly greater in the treatment group compared with the control group(P＝0.000,P<0.05).And so is the LCQ difference values and TCM cough efficacy grade in the treatment group(P=0.000,P<0.05;Z=-3.729,P=0.00<0.05).ConclusionThe study identified that for chronic cough patients of deficiency of lung yin,the cough VAS and LCQ difference values are greater when treat with Zengshi Runfeizhike soup,compare with dextromethorphan hydrobromide syrups.The present results highlight the improvements that Zengshi Runfeizhike soup has on cough symptoms,life quality and TCM cough efficacy grade.
