Objective Nowadays,as natural remedies are becoming more and more popular,with its unique charm and remarkable effect,Chinese manual medicine has attracted a large number of foreign students to study in China.With more and more international students in Chinese medicine universities,the demand of universities and students for bilingual manual medicine teaching materials is increasing.Based on the comparison between Chinese and western manual medicine teaching materials and study on English translation of manual medicine terminology,the study explores the standardization for English translation on Chinese manual medicine terminology,and provides suggestions for the construction of Chinese manual medicine bilingual teaching materials,so as to propagate the culture of Chinese manual medicine,promoting the integration and development of Chinese and western manual medicine.Methods First of all,the literature research method is used to review Chinese and western manual medicine,manual medicine teaching materials as well as research of English translation of manual medicine,so as to grasp the research background.Secondly,according to the evaluation method of teaching materials,the contrastive analysis is utilized to compare the research objects——Science of Tuina(hereinafter referred to as Tuina)edited by Jin Hongzhu,translated by Li Zhaoguo,and the teaching materials of massage therapycourse in Ontario,Canada,Clinical Massage Therapy written by Fiona Rattray and Linda Ludwig in teaching objects,teaching objectives,teaching content,teaching methods and auxiliary materials.Based on the standardization for English translation on traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),the principles and methods of English translation on Chinese manual medicine terminology were set up to analyze manual medicine terminologies in these two teaching materials,including five principles of correspondence,systematicness,conciseness,back translation and nationality,and three methods of literal translation,free translation and transliteration.Results Through the comparison and analysis of the compilation in these two teachings materials,the advantages and disadvantages of the two teachings materials are obtained.By analyzing the examples of English translation on Chinese manual medicine terminology,the five principles of correspondence,systematicness,conciseness,back translation and nationality as well as three methods of literal translation,free translation and transliteration are applicable to the English translation on the name of Chinese manual medicine terminology.And based on the above principles and methods,an evaluation of the English translation on Chinese manual medicine terminology in Tuina is obtained.These results provide reference for the construction of bilingual teaching materials of Chinese manual medicine,and are helpful to promote the process of standardization of English translation on Chinese manual medicine terminology.Conclusions By comparing and analyzing the compilation of these two teaching materials and terminology in them,three enlightenment for the English translation of Chinese manual medicine terminology are put forward:English translation of Chinese manual medicine should be concise and accurately reflect the characteristics of manipulation;keep the systematicnessof the translation of manipulation;based on the analysis of the similarities and differences between TCM and western medicine manipulations,the translation of TCM manipulation can refer to the terminology of western medicine manipulation.And the suggestions for the compilation of bilingual Chinese manual medicine teaching materials are obtained: the content of the teaching materials must be professional,meet the needs of international teaching,and keep pace with the times;teaching materials should be able to attract foreign students' interest and guide them to study independently;knowledge in teaching materials should be updated frequently and the effect of references should be valued;diversify the form of teaching materials;the quality of English translation on teaching materials should be improved and the terminology should be standardized.
