Object: The study investigated the current status of electronic media use,physical health,and behavioral habits to explore the current status of electronic media use and the associations between screen time,use of electronic media before bedtime,and use of electronic media in light or dark conditions with physical health,and behavioral habits among college students,in a medical university,Shenyang.Methods: In this study,college students were extracted by convenience sampling method from a University in Shenyang,Liaoning Province.The survey includes students’ demographic characteristic,electronic media use status,physical health status and behavioral habits.The date was analyzed by using the computer software program of SPSS 21.0.Clustering of variable was used K-mean clustering analysis.Independent-Sample-T-Test,One-Way ANOVA,Chi square test and NonparametricTest were used for the comparison of variables.The relationships of variables were by using Spearman correlation analysis and Multivariate Linear Regression analysis,Binomial and Ordered Logistics Regression.Results: The average age of surveyed population was 19.94?1.06 years old,including 440 males(35.86%)and 787 females(64.14%).The average daily use time of electronic media or screen time was 6.26 h/d.The proportion of college students who used electronic media every day within one hour before bedtime was 72.53%,and the average time of using electronic media within one hour before bedtime was 0.64±0.27 h/d.The 63.73% of college students turned off the lights when using electronic media before bedtime.Regression analysis shows that the screen time was related to cervical discomfort,shoulder pain,back pain,reduced physical exercise,regular sleeping and getting up,and often seeing smartphones.The frequency of using electronic media one hour before bedtime each week was related to college students’ poor vision,dry eyes,sleepy in the daytime,and seeing smartphones.The time of using electronic media within one hour before bedtime were related to the reduced physical exercise,the regularity of sleeping and getting up,and watching smartphone.Whether to turn off the lights or not to use electronic media before bedtime were related to the reduced physical exercise,the regularity of sleeping and getting up,and the decrease of vision.Conclusions: College students had an orientation of the excessive use of electronic media.The use time of electronic media,the frequency of using electronic media before bedtime every week,the time of using electronic media one hour before bedtime,and the use of electronic media in a condition before bedtime had a negative relationship with poor physical health and behavioral habits.
