Background and aimFor unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),Transarterial chemoembolization is the first-line treatment widely used in clinical practice.Transarterial chemoembolizatin(TACE)includes traditional TACE(c TACE)and drug-loaded microspheres TACE(DEB-TACE).The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of the two TACE therapies for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma.MethodsPub Med,an electronic full-text database, was retrieved.Randomized controlled trail(RCT)was included to compare the efficacy and safety of DEB-TACE and c TACE in the treatment of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma. The retrieval period was from the establishment of the database to 30 June 2019.Review Manager 5.3 software was hired to analyze data.ResultsFour randomized controlled trials were included. These studies included 475 patients, with 231 of whom were in DEB-TACE group and 244 were in c TACE group. There was no statistical difference in disease control rate, survival rate and adverse reaction rate between DEB-TACE group and c TACE group(all P > 0.05).However,in the incidence of Alopecia caused by chemotherapy drugs, the DEB-TACE group is much lower than c TACE.ConclusionDEB-TACE is safe and effective in the treatment of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma.DEB-TACE not only is as good as traditional c-TACE in tumor response rate and survival rate, but also does not increase the incidence of post-embolism syndrome and other serious adverse reactions. At the same time,in the research on Alopecia,we found that the DEB-TACE group is much lower than the c TACE group, and it have obvious advantages. This may Benefit from the slow release of chemotherapy drugs in DEB-TACE.The application of DEB-TACE can be considered in clinical use.
