Objectives:An analysis of breast disease screening results from health checkups between 2013 and 2017 was conducted to investigate the current situation of breast diseases in female patients,in order to provide a basis for the prevention and treatment of the disease. Methods:The patients having undergone physical examination at the medical center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University from January 2013 to December 2017 were included in this study.Retrospective data included breast ultrasound and mammography. The prevalence rate is calculated using descriptive statistical analysis such as frequency method. The comparison of the age was performed using independent T-test.The comparison of ultrasound combined with mammography was performed using paired chi-square test and kappa-test.Results:A total of 28100 patients having undergone breast ultrasound and 102 patients having undergone breast ultrasound combined with mammography were included. The detection rates of breast diseases from 2013 to 2017 were 79.31%,77.54%,81.40%,83.67% and 91.03%,respectively,showing a growing annual detection rate. The total detection rate of breast diseases was 80.60%(22645/28100),including 21762 cases of breast hyperplasia(77.44%),355 cases of cystic hyperplasia of the breast(1.26%),3529 cases of breast cysts(12.56%),617 cases of breast fibroma(2.20%),29 cases of breast lipoma(0.10%),3 cases of cystic fibrosis(0.01%),5 cases of breast cancer(0.02%),and 1069 cases of other diseases(3.80%).Among the detected breast diseases, breast hyperplasia had the highest detection rate,79.51%(21762/22645),followed by breast cysts,12.89%(3529/22645).The average age of the 28100 individuals was 41.53±12.76 years old.The average age of those with detected diseases was 40.77±10.82 years old.The average age of those without detected diseases was 44.67 ± 18.45 years old.The difference was statistically significant by independent T-test(P<0.05).Those aged from 31 to 50 had the highest detection rate of breast diseases. And there were significant differences between detection rates of different age groups. The detection rate of breast cancer peaked at the 41-50 age group. For the 102 heathy individuals who have undergone breast ultrasound combined with mammography, the mean age was 48.12±8.72 years old.The results of breast ultrasound and mammography were compared using chi-square test and there was no statistical difference between the two methods(P>0.05).Further comparison of the two methods using kappa-test showed poor consistency with no statistical difference between them(Kappa=0.163,P>0.05).Conclusions:The detection rate of breast diseases was at high level and is increasing annually, and the majority was breast hyperplasia. The age group with high prevalence rates of breast diseases and breast cancer were 31-50 and 41-50,respectively.Poor consistency between breast ultrasound and mammography was observed.Screening of breast diseases should be carried out regularly for early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment.
