| Objective:The purposed of this study was to compare the expression of PTEN and FOXC1 genes in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)and normal lung tissues by immunohistochemical methods,and to analye the relationship between the two and the clinical characteristics of NSCLC.The study also need to analye the correlation between the two expressions in NSCLC tissues.All these are to explore the relationship between PTEN and the occurrence and development of NSCLC and that’s the same thing for FOXC1.Methods:A total of 70 patients who underwent surgical treatment in the department of thoracic surgery,the First Central Hospital of Baoding city from May 2018 to July 2019 were randomly selected,and their pathological findings were confirmed as NSCLC.They all agreed to jion the study voluntarily.We collect the specimens of cancer tissues from the above NSCLC patients,and normal lung tissues more than 5cm 、 pathological examination showed no infiltration of cancer cells from the edge of tissues were taken from 25 of those patients as controls.The expression of FOXC1 and PTEN in NSCLC tissues and adjacent tissues was determined by immunohistochemical methods.And to analye the correlation between the expression of FOXC1 and PTEN and the general data of the patients(gender,age,smoking history)and clinicopathological charactetistics(tumor diameter,pathological type,degree of differentiation,lymph node metastasis,TNM stage,etc.).Results:The expression level of PTEN in NSCLC tissues was significantlylower than that in normal lung tissues(41.4% vs.84%,χ2=13.391,P=0.000253),while the expression level of FOXC1 in NSCLC tissues was higher than that in the normal lung tissues(62.8% vs.20%,χ2=13.547,P=0.000233).The expression of FOXC1 and PTEN was independent of the patient’s age,sex,smoking history,tumor diameter and pathological classification(P>0.05).In NSCLC tissues,low differentiation,lymph node metastasis and TNM stages for Ⅲ stage patients FOXC1 expression level is higher than medium-high differentiation,no lymph node metastasis,TNM staging Ⅰ+Ⅱ stage,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05),and PTEN in medium-high differentiation,no lymph node metastasis,TNM stage for Ⅰ+Ⅱ NSCLC tissues in patients with positive expression rate is higher than low differentiation,lymph node metastasis and TNM stages for Ⅲ stage,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The expression of PTEN and FOXC1 was negatively correlated.Conclusion:FOXC1 was highly expressed in NSCLC tissues,whereas PTEN was the opposite.The results showed that the two genes were closely related to NSCLC.Moreover,the two genes are closely related to tumor staging,differentiation and lymph node metastasis.It was revealde that both may be involved in the proliferation,invasion and metastasis of NSCLC.PTEN and FOXC1 were negatively correlated in NSCLC tissues.It is showed that there be some antagonism effect between the roles of the two in the occurrence and development of NSCLC. |
