| Objective:The mandibular tracing device,wax record and silicone rubber occlusal record were used to measure the sagittal condylar inclination and transversal condylar inclination of individual normal occlusion in young people.The accuracy of the three methods was compared to provide a theoretical basis for clinical application.Methods:1.Thirty-six normal individuals(18 males and 18 females)were selected from the fourth and fifth grade undergraduates and graduate students of this college,aged 22 to 26 years,with an average of 23.5 years.2.Using jaw motion analyzer(JMA)made by Zebris company in Germany,the sagittal condylar inclination(relative to the incisor edge of anterior teeth)and transversal condylar inclination(relative to the cusp of canine teeth)were measured.After 2 weeks interval,each subject used the same mandible tracing device to measure the sagittal condylar inclination and transversal condylar inclination again.On the same day,the anterior and lateral occlusal positions of the subjects were recorded by wax and occlusal recording silicone rubber respectively,and the recorded positions were consistent with the measurement positions of the mandible tracing device.Wax and occlusal recording silicone rubber were made four times at each position.Using Artex mechanical face bow for face bow transfer,the upper and lower jaw plaster models were fixed according to the maximum intercuspal position in the Artex fully adjustable articulator.Reset the forward and lateral occlusion records of wax and occlusion record silicone rubber to the fully adjustable articulator,and measure the values of sagittal condylar inclination and transversal condylar inclination.3.SPSS 21.0 statistical analysis software was used to perform intraclass correlation coefficient(ICC)analysis and paired t-test of the mean values of sagittal condylar inclination and transversal condylar inclination of each subject between the twice measurement with mandibular tracing device.The mean values of sagittal condylar inclination and transversal condylar inclination of each subject measured among the second time of mandibular tracing device、wax record and silicone rubber record were compared with paired t-test.Inspection level α = 0.05.Results:1.Comparison of the measurement results of two times using mandibular tracing device1.1The ICC of the mean values of the sagittal condylar inclination measured twice are(0.810,0.826)respectively the left and the right;ICC of the mean values of transversal condylar inclination are(0.771,0.785)respectively the left and the right.1.2.There was no significant difference in the mean values of the left side of the sagittal condylar inclination(P>0.05),and also there was no significant difference in the mean values of the right side(P>0.05);There was no significant difference in the mean values of the left side of the transversal condylar inclination(P>0.05),and also there was no significant difference in the mean values of the right side(P>0.05).2.Comparison of the measurement results of the second time mandibular tracing device,wax record and silicone rubber occlusion record.2.1 Comparison of the mean values of the sagittal condylar inclinationThere was a statistically significant difference between the two sides when using a mandibular tracing device compared with a wax record(P <0.05);also a statistically significant difference between the two sides using a mandibular tracing device compared with a silicone rubber record(P<0.05).Compared with the silicone rubber record,the wax record had no statistical difference on the left(P>0.05),yet there was a statistical difference on the right(P<0.05).2.2 Comparison of the mean values of the transversal condylar inclinationThere was a statistically significant difference between the two sides when using a mandibular tracing device compared with a wax record(P <0.05);a statistically significant difference between the two sides using a mandibular tracing device compared with a silicone rubber record(P<0.05).There was no statistical difference between the wax record and the silicone rubber record on both sides(P>0.05).Conclusions:1.The consistency of the measurements of sagittal condylar inclination and transversal condylar inclination before and after using the mandibular tracing device is good,which can meet the clinical needs.2.The accuracy of condylar inclination using mandibular tracing device is higher than wax record and silicone rubber occlusion record,and it is more convenient.It is recommended to use mandibular tracing device to obtain mandibular motion parameters in clinical complex prosthodontics. |
