Objective: To observe the correlation between serum 25 hydroxyvitamin D [25-(OH)D]with peripheral nerve conduction velocity(PNCV)and progression of type 2diabetic retinopathy(DR).Methods: Randomly selected a total of 150 patients with type 2 diabetes(T2DM)were included, who have received treatment in People's Hospital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, there were 50 patients with non-diabetic retinopathy(NDR),50 patients with nonproliferative retinopathy(NPDR),50 patients with proliferative retinopathy(PDR).Tested patient's serum 25-(OH)D,glycated homoglobinA1c(HbA1c),random blood sugar, fasting plasma glucose(FPG),triglycerude(TG),low lipoprotein-chlesterol(LDL-C),total cholesterol(TC)and 2-hour postprandial blood glucose(2hPG),insulin,C-peptide,and age, gender, time of disease, body mass index(BMI)levels, and detected the peripheral nerve conduction velocity(PNCV)by electromyography were statistically analyzed. Results: There was a significant difference in serum 25-(OH)D levels among the three groups(P<0.05),the PDR group was significantly lower than that the NPDR group, the NPDR group was significantly lower than that the NDR group. There was a significant difference in PNCV among the three groups(P<0.05),the PDR group was significantly lower than that the NPDR group, the NPDR group was significantly lower than that the NDR group. The 25-(OH)D was an independent risk factors of DR.There was a significant positively correlation between 25-(OH)D levels and PNCV,and the lower serum 25-(OH)D levels, the slower peripheral nerve conduction. Conclusion: The 25-(OH)D levels with PNCV positively correlation with progression of type 2 DR,the more severe DR,the lower serum 25-(OH)D levels, and the slower peripheral nerve conduction.
