Objective To analyze the history of epidemiology, clinical manifestations, complications, auxiliary examination and treatment of medical records of children and adults with brucellosis in Ning Xia and surrounding areas. Methods The data of the patients with brucellosis(including 88 children and 354 adults patients)in General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University from January 2009 to August2019 were selected.Analyzed the data includes epidemiology, clinical manifestations, complications, laboratory examination etc.Divided into children and adults group, different disease stages, whether there were complications of osteoarthritis. The data is analyzed by SPSS 22.0.Results 1.School age children and young and middle-aged people are more likely to suffer from brucellosis, mostly male.Mainly in March to August.More than 80% of patients have contact history.2.In children and adults,Fever and arthralgia are the first and most common symptoms.Other common symptoms are sweating, fatigue, anorexia and headache.Fever(82.95%),arthralgia(54.55%),lumbago(52.27%),hyperhidrosis(38.64%)are common in children.Back pain(79.82%),fever(61.58%),asthenia(45.20%),anorexia(34.75%),hyperhidrosis(34.46%),arthralgia(33.90%)are common in adults. There was no significant difference between children and adults of hepatomegaly(21.59%)and Splenomegaly(36.36%).The most common complication is osteoarthritis, pneumonia, testicular epididymitis, meningitis, endocarditis, blood system abnormalities can also occur.Fever, fatigue andhyperhidrosis are common in the acute stage of the disease.Back pain and arthralgia are common in subacute and chronic stage.3.In Osteoarticular brucellosis, peripheral arthritis occurs most frequently in children,31 cases(62.00%)of knee joint and 21 cases(42.00%)of hip joint involvement were the most common. In adults, axial arthritis(especially spondylitis)occurs most frequently, lumbar and sacral vertebrae were most ofen involved, thoracic vertebrae were the second, and cervical vertebrae were the least.4.In children and adults, white blood cell count was in the normal range in most patients,c-reactive protein increased, erythrocyte sedimentation rate increased, eosinophils decreased, and liver enzyme abnormalities were the most common.Lymphocyte elevation, eosinophils decreased, anemia, liver enzyme elevation were more common in children.Hypoalbuminemia,c-reactive protein increased and renal impairment are more common in adults.5.In children and adults,The positive rate of standard agglutination test(SAT)is about 95%.The positive rate of blood culture was 65.85% in children and 51.00% in adults,The positive rate of blood culture was higher in children. Conclusion Brucellosis involves many systems in human body, and its clinical symptoms are complex and diverse,The clinical characteristics of children and adults with brucellosis, different clinical stages of the disease, and patients with osteoarthritis are different, which is easy to be misdiagnosed.
