Objective:By establishing the Bayesian Network model for the herbs, prescriptions and symptoms in Yangming disease chapter of treatise on febrile diseases, this paper attempts to investigate the relevant laws of the herbs, prescriptions and syndromes differentiation and treatment on the basis of the theoretical knowledge of TCM,and provide a prospective insight into the systematic study of prescriptions and syndromes in treatise on febrile diseases. Methods:In this study,we first standardized the data of the herbs, prescriptions and symptoms in Yangming disease chapter of treatise on febrile diseases, and counted their frequencies into Microsoft Excel software to establish a database;then we used SPSS 23.0 software package and R3.4.3 software to build Bayesian Network diagram and Netica software to draw the Bayesian Network model;whereafter,we calculated the node degree of the research variables in the Bayesian Network model;finally, according to the chart characteristics and the theoretical knowledge of TCM,we analyzed and summarized the relevant laws.Results:(1)Conclusions on herbs and prescriptions: In Yangming disease chapter of treatise on febrile diseases, the most frequently used herb is rhubarb, the most used prescription is Chengqi Decoction, and the most used herbs compatible with others are licorice and jujube.Zhongjing emphasizes the treatment of Yangming excessive, variable and heat syndromes in Yangming disease chapter, where Chengqi Decoction is used to treat Yangming excessive syndromes;Xiaochaihu,Yinchenhao and Didang Decoctions are used to treat Yangming variable syndromes;Zhizichi and Zhuling Decoctions are used to treat Yangming heat syndromes.Zhongjing also discusses the exterior syndromes, whose prescriptions are Mahuang and Guizhi Decoctions.(2)Conclusions on syndrome differentiation and treatment: Zhongjing distinguishes "fever" in Yangming disease."Fever" with "pulse floating" is "exterior heat syndromes" and "fever" with "constipation" is "interior heat syndromes",where the former is treated with Mahuang and Guizhi Decoctions, while the latter is treated with Chengqi Decoction.Zhongjing also identifies "asthma".Asthma accompanied by cold, fever and sweating should be treated with Guizhi Decoction;asthma accompanied by hot flashes, abdominal distension and constipation should be treated with Dachengqi Decoction;asthma accompanied by fever, sweating and abdominal distention was treated with Baihu Decoction. The yellow body is treated by the method of promoting urination, and the used prescription is Zhuling Decoction. In addition,Zhongjing uses Magnolia officinalis to treat delirium, hot flashes and constipation;gardenia to treat yellow body, fever and upset;Guizhi Decoction to treat cold and pulse floating;mirabilite to treat asthma and abdominal distension;ginseng to treat hot flashes;Dachengqi Decoction to treat constipation, asthma and hot flashes;Zhizichi Decoction to treat upset and fever;Xiaochengqi Decoction to treat constipation;Yinchenhao Decoction to treat yellow body;Xiaochaihu Decoction to treat hot flashes;Ephedra Decoction to treat pulse floating and Guizhi Decoction to treat perspiration. Conclusions:The results show that the model graphs obtained by Bayesian Network are simple, clear and visualized. It realizes the in-depth understanding of the prescriptions and the rules of syndrome and treatment in the Yangming disease chapter of treatise on febrile diseases, which provides the certain significance for studying the principles of the herbs and the syndrome differentiation and treatment by ZHANG Zhong-jing.Therefore,we conclude that Bayesian Network is an effective method for systematically investigating the treatise on febrile diseases.
