Background:Rotator cuff injury is the familiar pathogenesis of shoulder pain. The purpose of our study was to evaluate the effectiveness of operative treatment when compared with nonoperative treatment of rotator cuff tears.Method:Relevant literature comparing effects of operative and nonoperative treatment of rotator cuff tears were searched from database, including PubMed,Medline,Cochrane Library,Web of Science,Scopus,Embase,CNKI,Wanfang database,Chinese biomedical literature database,VIP database. The included literature data were analyzed by Revman5.3.Results:A total of 5 randomized controlled trials involving 449 participants met the inclusion criteria, including 227 cases of operative group and 222 cases of nonoperative group.Compared with the nonoperative group, the operative treatment can reduce the pain score(VAS score)and improve the function of shoulder joint and ASES score(P < 0.05),but there is no statistically significant difference in improving the Constant score(P > 0.05).Conclusions:There was a statistically significant improvement in the outcomes of patients treated with operative treatment compared to nonoperative treatment. However, because the literature included in this paper is insufficient, more literature are required to determine the clinical differences between the these treatment methods.
