A Study Of Chinese Net-Based Neologisms From The Perspective Of Conceptual Integration Theory

Net-based neologisms can be referenced and innovated in various language environment.However,the innovative meanings are still built on the basis of the original meanings,so it is essential to analyze the process of new meaning construction from the latest theory of conceptual integration.Based on data resources,data in this thesis is from the Top Ten Annual Network Catchwords issued by Excessive Wording editorial office from year 2011 to 2014.Based on the previous research results,this thesis adopts the Conceptual Integration Theory as the theoretical basis to conduct a qualitative and quantitative exploration of the Chinese net-based neologisms in the conceptual integration network about how the elements in the 4 mental space,namely,the input space 1,input space 2,generic space and blended space map,project to one another,and form the new emerging structure and innovative structure.It mainly focuses on composition and formation mechanism of the complex network neologisms to verify the Conceptual Integration Theory also has strong explanatory power.Studying Chinese language and culture with western Conceptual Integration Theory from the cognitive perspective improves a better understanding of them and promotes network communication.It not only tested the feasibility of this theory,and explored the new way for the development of Chinese network language,this is also the innovation of this thesis.
