Li Zishu's Novels From The Perspective Of Feminism

Li Zishu is a very famous female writer in Malaysia Chinese literary world,An Age of Farewell was her first full length fiction.This book was first published in Taiwan in 2010 using traditional Chinese.In 2012,a simplified Chinese edition was published in China.In recent years,Li Zishu's Li's reputation keeps stacking up while she travels around the world.She received many prestigious literary awards because of her An Age of Farewell,Rewards and Awards including:Singapore Fang Xiu Literacy Fiction first place,listed in ten great Chinese fiction in "Asia Magazine",China Times Literature Prize year 2011,Huazong Literacy Awards Malaysia Chinese Literacy Grand Award year 2011,Global Chinese Length Fiction Novel Honglou Meng Recommendation Award.Initially,her books concentrated on local Malaysian scene.Gradually,she became a well-known international female writer.Her styles were intricate,complex and superbly artistic.But this full length An Age of Farewell,she treaded solidly on village footpath instead.Beside many structural manipulations,there are female experiences those metaphor historical events.In addition,it clearly reflects feminine consciousness and female angle of view.This thesis mainly uses feminist perspective to research and discuss An Age of Farewell.This thesis is divided into 5 chapters.An introduction,presents Li Zishu's books and their literary positions,studies made on these books by Malaysian and foreign scholars.It also covers methodologies used in this thesis and their values.The first chapter,diagrams are used to analyze the three dimensional structure of the said fiction.The second chapter highlights feminism in the book and concentrates on female growth process through feminism.In the third chapter,using feminism as a basis to discuss relationships between women,their intricate relations and emotional changes,with extension to cover lesbianism and the utopia of single sex relationship.Fourth chapter focuses on female narrative strategies to explore An Age of Farewell.Using text,combine with feminisms narrative,little narrative,feminisms folk custom,feminine history narrative,identity awareness and so on to analyze the fiction's narrative strategies.Fifth chapter is comparison between Li Zishu and other novelist.Finally,a conclusion summarizes the views expressed in this thesis,it is also the epilogue.An Age of Farewell has rich contents and unique narrative strategies.It is nutritious for modern and contemporary literature especially literature creations relating to Malaysian Chinese women.
