It should be attached more importance to the pupils’ interests in learning and their good habits in the English teaching of rural junior middle school.In this way,it is likely for the pupils to train their learning method and expand or develop their ability of autonomous learning step by step.With our social progress and the great development of education,the old teaching method of junior middle school English is difficult to adapt itself to new requirements for education,so the new activity teaching method emerges as the times require.The research of this kind of teaching method has become the hot topic discussed at home and abroad in the new model of English education.The teaching method research mentioned in the paper is drawn from Jeremy Harmer’s balanced teaching theory,which is also called the Activity Approach.In Jeremy Hammer balanced activity teaching method,its core teaching steps are to develop pupils’ ability for language learning by means of teaching activities.In the process of teaching,it is key to control language input and output scale.That is to say,with the help of the necessary experience of activity and communication we meet the double demands of language input and output,so it is believed in the paper that if the activity approach is spread and applied in a junior middle school,we need to do some researches on pupils in various aspects just like cognitive level,learning interest and learning intention.Next,as our present situation of English teaching of a rural junior middle school in China is concerned,the problems caused by a teaching method make our English teaching level difficult to improve.The traditional infusion style method of education seems to be hard to stimulate pupils’ strong interests in foreign language learning.As a result,under the teachers’ strict requirements they are passive in their study and the teaching effect is not good at all.Meanwhile,it is easy to make the pupils feel weary in learning,and teaching forms a vicious circle.In the present situation of education,we analyze the quality of pupils,the teaching materials used in each junior middle school,teachers’ team and their qualities and every school’s attitude to English teaching and so on.Of course,through investigation and research we carry out questionnaire surveys of a certain quantity of pupils.The survey result shows that the activity teaching method is likely to be popular in the English teaching of a rural junior middle school,whatever pupils or teachers they are,they think that this kind of teaching method is feasible.After the activity approach is put into effect,there are such effects as:firstly,the pupils’ marks are improved or raised on a large scale,secondly,the pupils have their own interests in learning,thirdly,pupils’ chances to experience English are increased,fourthly,the teachers begin to abandon their old teaching model,fifthly,there are closer relationships between teachers and pupils,sixthly,the activity teaching method makes English teaching be a new art.The key to the activity teaching method is to turn teachers’ ideas in the classroom teaching,especially it is all the teachers that take actions and it is probable to stimulate pupils’ enthusiasm and take part in their teaching activities.It is in this good environment that pupils are willing to speak English naturally.On the one hand,there is a good atmosphere in the classroom,and the pupils mutually stimulate their strong interests in learning and affect each other so as to have a good effectiveness of teaching.On the other hand,teachers’ role is really turned or converted to make sure that teaching tasks are completed when pupils comfortably participate in and communicate in English.So,this new teaching model depends on pupils as a driving force.It is they that push the whole teaching interaction forward,thus being a virtuous cycle.It is specially a great emphasis on teachers who must have carefully designed and managed each class and do some researches on thinking rules of children in this group of age in order to ease their fears or reduce the stress on them.In this way,it is likely for them to share pleasure with one another.In general,coming into their own in learning means that teachers train pupils’ positive quality of hard work.Besides,the activity approach needs teachers to qualify themselves for their good ability of human relations.Harmonious relationship between teachers and students is the basis of the activity teaching method,so teachers are required to mobilize the enthusiasm of students,love them and take care of their physical and mental health.Conversely,pupils happily support teaching activities in the classroo芏m.The research takes Jinshandian Middle School of Hubei Province,a rural junior middle school for example.Through collecting information,put it in order and analyze related educational materials from the Ministry of Education to sum up the present situation of the activity approach of English at a rural junior middle school.On the basis of investigation and research we attribute problems to English teaching method.In combination of the practice of English teaching in the classroom,we make attempts to put forward the applied strategy of the activity approach under our new standards in English teaching in the rural junior middle school for the purpose of reference for English teaching experiment of the rural junior middle school.
