Research On Shuowen Gu Zhou Shu Zheng

Shuowen Gu Zhou Shu Zheng is the first book using the inscriptions on Bronzes and Stones to make a systematic study on the GuWen and ZhouWen of Shuowen Jiezi,which contributes greatly to the ancient characters' studies.Since then,scholars tend to study ancient characters with the newly discovered materials.The book is divided into six volumes,including 626 character prefixs and 2895 character patterns that choosed from various antiquities,most of which are inscriptions on bronze of Zhou Dynasty,and the else are the Warring States scripts and Xiaozhuan in Qin and Han Dynasty.By analysing the book,we can detect Zhuang's achievements and deficiencies in the study of paleography.This article is composed of five chapters.Chapter one is the introduction to introduce the author and his works,an overview of relevant research,as well as the research objective of this paper.Chapter two introduces the writing background and basic situation about Shuowen Gu Zhou Shu Zheng.In chapter three,we revise and supply the mistakes and deficiencies in the book according to the latest research achievements.On the basis of comprehensive research,chapter four and chapter five center on the deficiencies and achievements of Shuowen Gu Zhou Shu Zheng.It can be found there exist some deficiencies and mistakes owing to both objective and subjective reasons.Meanwhile,through the analysis of the the book,we can surely detect Zhuang Shuzu's achievements in the study of ancient Chinese characters.Combining personal scientific understanding of evolution rules of the Chinese Characters with a variety of methods,Zhuang Shuzu not only correct the mistakes of predecessors,but also verify and explain many difficult words.Meanwhile,we make a discussion about Shuowen Gu Zhou Shu Zheng s academic value from the perspective of the history of paleography.
