The criticied spirit of enlightenment and culture industry of the first generation by Horkheimei and Adorno which western civilization has generated and revealed instrumental rationality.It is a pity that,though,Horkheimer and Adorno have touched the industrial civilization of capitalism to bring up disaster and shown the powerless,facing such serious dilemma so that got into trouble in pessimism of emitional appeal.Honneth claimed that their lack of social factors for the critical theory.Marcuse who faced such soiety,however,not merely showed positive the criticism of industrial civilization,but the reconstruct the made positive at the same time.But his reconstuction was Utopia.Clearly,if the reconstruction of the first generation was either in pessionism of emotional appeal or in an utopia and ended in failure,then,how Habermas faced with the predicament of frankfurt school in order to restore the influence of frankfurt school,so he again made a dignosis about the society and reconstructed the capitalist industrial civilization.Habermas argued that there were four aspect of crisis in the late capitalism society,such as economic,rationality,legalization and motivation.In view of this,Habermas reconstructed industrial society by theory of communication action,which is his critical theory.However,Habermas's theory was only an ideal state for the reality world.But Honneth wasn't content with Habermas about the reconstruction method of society.Therefore,the reconstruction task of frankfurt school fall on the third generation of leaders to his shoulder.Honneth was strived to make a diagnosis for the current social and the traditional criticsm theory and reconstruct the society under frankfurt school influencement,putting forward their own the theory of civilization.Honneth point that the traditional criticism theory appear to lack of sociality and that industrial society was the fragment of society.In sum,industrial civilization led to a divided society for between man and man,and society,and nature.Therefore,it is possible that Honneth reconstructed the industrial society to make a diagnosis with the recognition theory.Then,Honneth studied the Germany Classical Philosophy,in particular Hegel's recognition theory which few people noticed in Jena.Therefore,it is possible that Honneth put forward his own the recognition theory which transformed by Mead's social psychology.But his theory differ from Hegel's the realm of theory and become a new way to solve the fragment of society.In my opinion,Honneth not only inherited the civilization conception of frankfurt school,but also progreed the criticism theory,and promoted a new realm as well.However,no matter what theory is not perfect,and Honneth's recognition theory is not exception.In the process of rebuilding the industrial society,meanwhile,the recognition theory faced with itself defects,which needs to be continue to check its rationality.All in all,Honneth's theory shows that the civilization conception of frankfurt school developped his own internal logic in the process of development,and he explained his internal logic,or the development of the thoughts of his own the theory of civilization.
