Numerous perception experiments showed that people have different ways of perceiving mother tongue and second language. Most researchers believe that native speakers mainly conform to native-language phonological categories when assimilating or dissimulating the second language. This paper used the method of perceptual experiment to examine the effects of Malaysian Chinese learners, perception of consonants of Mandarin. This research mainly used the two popular second language acquisition theory category namely Perceptual Assimilation Model(PAM)and Speech Learning Model(SLM).The two was established in second language speech to be assimilated into the native category based on,imitate the non-native speech presented to the learner's difficulties, holds the view that listeners in a non-native perceived success rate model. This paper designed two experiments, the first is perceptual assimilation experiment. The second is perceptual discrimination experiment. The two experiment subjects were asked to make judgments on the perception of Chinese consonants in the native speech category.By the experiment of perceptual assimilation of consonants in Mandarin stimulus results can predict the second experiment's result.Because of the use of the two model experiments is relatively less,so the research method of this paper can provide experience and ideas for future research. At the same time,Malaysian learners' perception of the experimental data and results of Mandarin consonants can provide reference for the teaching of Chinese consonants.
