| Yuan Hongdao is one of the founders of the Gong’an School and he is also the representative of Buddhism in the late Ming Dynasty.His Buddhist thought have changed for three times in his life.Under the background of three-in-one teaching and Buddhism in late Ming dynasty,also,with the influence of his family and his own interests,he entered the Zen firstly,then he met Li Zhi and changed to Mad Zen.He studied Word Zen then meditation to the Kanhua Dhyana,more and more focus on the realization,so as to achieved the realm of harmony without a state.In the long run,he saw the disadvantages of Mad Zen.At the same time,under his own reflections on worry about life and he known the Pure Land was easy to understand,his Buddhist thought turned to the second form,that is,the Pure Land.He founded the grape club in Beijing and talked the Buddhism theory with his net friend,then he made a book of "theory of the West".In this book,Yuan Hongdao discussed the letter of the Buddha with his nature,believed the letter is true and the true western Pure Land was the most Winning,and aspiring practitioners,and then rebirth to the western heaven.But because of the sinister political environment,the grape clubs have been widespread persecution,coupled with Yuan Hongdao’s brother,Zongdao’s death and his friends,Li Zhi’s death,he seclusioned to Liu Lang to pursuit the value of life,his Buddhist thought turned to the third form at this time,that is,Sui Yuan Zen.His Buddhist thought at this time was more stable and reassuring fortune,he had more spirit of bear on learning and embarked the road with tranquil leisurely.Yuan Hongdao’s story is a life-long exploration of Buddhism and embarked on the course of self-adaptation.This can inspire the impetuous and anxious people in today and bring a breeze to their lost life. |
