Cai Yuanding(1135-1198)is a famous learned man who studied the image-number-ology,and his stature relies on two aspect.One is that he has made a contribution to spread and develop Shao Yong's Yi-ology.The other is his viewpoint which the He tu(River Map)contains 55 dots whereas the Luo shu(Luo Chart)contains 45 dots.They become basics of Confucian Heluo-ology.Cai Chen(1167-1230)is well known due to his book named Hongfan Huangji Neipian.It is an order from his father Cai Yuanding writing the book,and its basic viewpoint also comes from his father,which the He tu(River Map)contains 55 dots whereas the Luo shu(Luo Chart)contains 45 dots.Cai Chen's number-ological system becomes the beginning of explaining Hongfan by Zhouyi.The first chapter researches Cai Yuanding's study of Shao Yong's Yi-ology through Huangji Jingshi Zhiyao,and his viewpoint of multiplication of yin and yang lines.In the first section,the basic content of Shao Yong's Yi-ology is explained by diagrams.Huangji Jingshi Zhiyao becomes an essential book which guide later learner to study Shao Yong's Yi-ology.In the second section,I think the multiplication of yin and yang lines of Shao Yong,Zhu Xi(1130-1200)and Cai Yuanding are different each other.Shao's is Gua-bian theory named one divides into two.Zhu's and Cai's explore the origin of the yi-ology that is the question how to draw Gua by Fuxi.But Zhu's multiplication of yin and yang lines,named every one births two,manifest Gas after Principle logical which is Zhuzi Doctrine's viewpoint.However,Cai's resolves mainly Yi-ological question and receives some Yi-ological knowledge in Han Dynasty.In the second chapter,I think Cai Yuanding's viewpoint,which the He tu contains 55 dots whereas the Luo shu contains 45 dots,is a turning point in history of Heluo-ology and a connecting link between Zhu xi and Liu Mu(1011-1064)by studying Yixue Qimeng.In the first section,Liu Mu's Heluo-olgy and Cai Yuanding's criticism are explained.There are two point of Cai's criticism.One is He tu and Luo shu don't reflect the progress of drawing Gua by Fuxi.The other one is Liu's viewpoint that He tu contains 45 dots whereas the Luo shu contains 55 dots don't reflect relevance between Luo shu and Hong Fan.Cai's criticism gets a opposite conclusion that He tu contains 55 dots whereas the Luo shu contains 45 dots.In the second section,Zhu xi absorbs Cai's conclusion and creates a new Heluo-ological viewpoint which implies his Zhuzi's theoretical viewpoint.And it distinguishes Zhu and Cai.In the last section,Yixue Qimeng is deemed as summary of the image-number-ology in Song Dynasty.In this book,Zhou Dunyi's Tai ji tu,Shao Yong's Xian tian tu,He tu and Luo shu are connected ever since Chen tuan's image-number-ology disrupted three section.So Confucian image-number-ology is completed by Zhu and Cai.In the third chapter,Cai Chen's Hongfan Huangji Neipian is studied.In the first section,Cai's number-olgical system bases on his father's conclusion.And he think He tu and Zhou yi means image-ology while Luo shu and Hong fan means number-ology.The distinction between these two ologies lies in that the former is deductive mode with two?four?weight,whereas the latter is deductive mode with three?nine?twenty-seven.In the second section,the number-ological system includes relationship between principle and number,divinatory method,numerical diagram,meaning of Huangji and so on.The relation between principle and number means that number is an instrumental concept to express principle which implies number-ontology is an error.In the last section,source and successor of number-ology system is researched.It inherits tradition from Zhouyi,Taixuan,Donglin,Dongji,Yuanbao,Qianxu and creates a theoretical method which explains Hongfan by Zhouyi and has becomed a tradition.Because of number-ology,the image-number-ology becomes morerational.And the tradicton of Taixuan and Huangji Jingshi Zhiyao turns a part of Zhuzi Doctrine.
