The edition of Kangxi has been considered to be the one that is most closed to the original manuscript's eight-volume system of "Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio",with the remarkable value of study and collation respectively. The academia knows little about it and doesn't pay much attention to this edition since it hasn't been completely published yet.And the research studied on its source, time and characteristics is considerably less. This article brings the edition of Kangxi into the spotlight, attempting to give a comprehensive introduction about the characteristics of the edition of Kangxi by detailed narrative;attempting to confirm that the edition of Kangxi is truly originated from the manuscript's eight-volume system and been directly transcribed from the original book by comparing the difference between the manuscript and the "Kangxi Edition";attempting to demonstrate the transcribing time and source by rigorous information and data using the example such as taboo letters etc. This article includes three parts:introduction, body and conclusion. The introduction part gives a systemic introduction about the overall quantitative process and the development of the "Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio" study. The body includes four chapters. The first chapter introduces many aspects such as the outlook, chapters, volume features, vital stamps, remarks and handwriting respectively. It aims at demonstrating two relative questions in the volume of "Wangzhe "and the volume of "Dong gongzi by the edition distinctions.Chapter II goes through all the difference existing in the manuscript and the edition of Kangxi.Comparing all the differences,it tries to illustrate that the source of the edition of Kangxi which belongs to the eight-volume system is literally the original manuscript.Chapter ? starts from the taboo study, identifying the transcribe time of the edition of Kangxi.Based on the evidence of the copies of the edition of Kangxi and going through all the taboo characters which are relevant to the name of emperors in Qing dynasty dated from"Kangxi" emperor to "Guangxu" emperor,it explores the accurate writing time of the edition of Kangxi. The last chapter is focus on the source of the edition of Kangxi.By taking a deep look at the social range and scope around the author Songling Pu and putting the possibility the people in his social range can get touch with this edition into consideration,we can track down to the Bi lived in Xipu. For the edition of Kangxi exists the taboo of Bi,to prove that it is possible that this edition is the edition of Bishi and the transcripter is Shiji Bi.The conclusion is the summary of all the problems.
