The Historical Records (Shiji) was the first biographic general history book in China which was written by Sima Qian 2000 years ago. It has developed different editions during copying and pressing in history. There was a lot of difference of words between different editions. It is a basic work to construct the edition system of The Historical Records and collate the difference of the words. In Qing dynasty, a study on Chinese classic language and books had been made great progress. The edition of Wu-ying-dian which was pressed in the fourth year of Qianlong had its great importance in history. The edition of Wu-ying-dian was also an important fruit of the studying on The Historical Records in the fore period of Qing dynasty. The previous studies on the Wu-ying-dian edition were not sufficient. So it is necessary to continue the study on this edition. This paper tries to formulate the process of forming and the worth of the Wu-ying-dian edition by studying its print and comparing with Bei-jian edition as well as Jin-ling-publishing-house edition. Another purpose of this paper is to open out the merit of the Dian edition in order to give a reference to the work of collating on The Historical Records.This paper has four chapters which divided into two parts: the first part is the edition study; the second part is the collation on words.The preface of this paper has made an overview of the study on edition and collation of The Historical Records from Qing dynasty till now, and also gives an opinion on these studies.The first chapter is a study on the print of the Dian edition. It describes the background, process of print, as well as Dian edition's mother edition. It has also lucubrated on the Textual Research on Dian Edition of Historical Records. At last, it gives an introduction about the copies of Dian edition include Si-ku-quan-shu and Si-ku-guan-shu-hui-yao.The second chapter focuses on comparing the Dian edition with the Bei-jian edition. Firstly, it makes a brief study on the Bei-jian edition from different angle of view. Then it formulates the difference between the Dian edition and the Bei-jian edition by two ways. With this study we may be conscious of the endeavor which made by the people who print the Dian edition, further more, it can help us to calculate the worth of the Dian edition. The third chapter focuses on comparing the Dian edition with Jin-ling edition. Firstly, it makes a general study on the printing process of Jin-ling edition, gives its own opinions on some complex problem. Based on this, it describes the connection between the Dian edition and the Jin-ling edition, and then it discuses the difference between these two editions. At last, it studies on the problem of the missing notes of Suo-yin in Jin-ling edition.The forth chapter is the collation with words in the Dian edition. Through collating, some mistakes in the Jin-ling edition was mended.The last part of this paper is epilogue.
