Re-Framing In News Translation

The Belt and Road Initiative is a major strategic decision made by the CPC Central Committee,represented by President Xi Jinping,in taking the initiative to respond to the profound changes in the global situation and coordinating the two major international and domestic situations.Since its introduction,it has attracted worldwide attention.How to accurately disseminate the spirit of the B&R initiative and explain its connotation has become an important topic for China's external reporting.The news translation on the"Belt and Road" related reports has also become a window for the international world to understand China.However,the current studies on the news translation of domestic media are scarce.More researches focus on western media coverage of related topics.Frame theory in journalism originated from the study of psychology and sociology.It was introduced into the field of communication science since the 1980s.The main point is that the news report of mass media is not a "mirror-like" reflection of reality.But according to certain news standpoints and news value standards,various facts are accepted,selected,and processed.This process is actually a reconstruction of the real world and its significance.This thesis collects and screens Chinese official website of the B&R Initiative and collecting Chinese news texts(4097)and English news texts(2420)from August 2016 to March 2018 and examines changes and migrations of the"framework" presented in news in the process of translation through textual analysis.Based on the theoretical framework of the news framework,the news information,choice of words,and rhetoric conversion in the official news translation of the B&R were discovered.There are several aspects of the reconstruction of English-Chinese news frameworks.The study has found that news translation is not simply a one-way process of transmitting information through language conversion,but a dynamic process of multi-factor influence including political ideology,the length of news itself,and themes of news.The translation of news not only need to ensure the authenticity and credibility of news translation information,but also have to satisfy the editorial guidelines of the media and the ideological position,while also recognizing the differences between the readers of the original language and the target language in terms of cultural expectations in order to obtain the recognition of the target language audience.Therefore,translators should select appropriate translation strategies in the translation process in order to achieve a better news dissemination effect.
