The study on the learning strategies of CSL and CFL learners is very important,but there are not many case study.This paper researches the CFL learners,and this is a case study for two students from Madagascar,one is a successful chinese learner,and another is not very successful.The subjects of this case study are two students.One student is recognized as good Chinese learner and another is not good.The research lasts 6 months.The methods of this study are questionnaire,interviews and the classroom observation.The good one is a boy,another is a girl.They began to study Chinese in the same time at the same place.The structured questionnaire of reformed SILL,which originally proposed by L.Oxford is used to study the learning strategies for two of them.After that,the author interviews deeply students about the learning strategies and the reason of use.The interview includes study motivation,listening strategies,reading strategies,writing strategies,metacognitive strategies,compensation and social strategies.Through the analysis of the author's conclusions,the successful Chinese learner in the case is more motivated to learn and actively create opportunities for himself to learn more.In addition to reading textbooks,he also reads a lot of extracurricular readings,has his own study plan,and has a strong ability to monitor his own learning.The student who did not succeed in the case was relatively weak in learning motivation.She seldom took the initiative to find opportunities for listening and speaking,and had less time to read textbooks.She wes few to read outside the classroom,and she was unclear about their own learning plans,and had less self-monitoring ability during the learning process.Through the comparison of the motivation of the two learners and the use of various strategies,I hope that the unsuccessful Chinese learners and teachers will make use of something.This also paves the way for future comparative studies on Chinese and successful learners' learning strategies.In the end,the author pointed out the deficiencies of the study and put forward suggestions for related research in the future.
