Research On Li Gen-quan's Novel "The Tiger Cliff"

Li Gen-quan was one of the leaders of Korean literature in the mid-1950s and the beginning of reform and opening up,and was also a famous writer of Chinese-Korean literature.In his life,he published three novels,four novellas,and more than ten short stories.Among them,the novel "The Tiger Cliff" is not the only one of his masterpieces,but also an important work to reposition the Korean cultural identity and explore the political future.Taking the revised version of "The Tiger Cliff" published in 1986 as the center,this study adopts research perspectives and methodologies of social historical criticism methods,biographical criticism,post-colonialism criticism,literary psychology,and novel aesthetics,and discusses in the following order:First,The research object and purpose of the study are described.After analyzing the previous research results and limitations,the research method of this paper is formulated.Secondly,an in-depth study of the creation and adaptation process of Tiger Cliff was conducted.Through the introduction of Li Gen-quan' s life and his literary creation process,the panorama reveals the social and cultural background of the creation and deeply explores the significance of the creation and adaptation of the novel“The Tiger Cliff".Thirdly,this article analyzes the social conditions described in the novel and the personality characteristics of the characters.It explores the way in which the dilemmas and choices of the characters in the radical period are presented in the novel and deeply explores the national consciousness contained in the works.Finally,the narrative structure of the work is analyzed.Through the clash between the Communist Party and the KMT,the conflict between communism and nationalism,the uncertainty of the liberation period and the exploration of survival and future,the theme consciousness of the work was thoroughly and delicately presented.While summarizing the overall analysis and discussion in the "Conclusion",the social and historical significance of the novel "The Tiger Cliff" was obtained,and the position of this work in the history of Korean literature was established.In short,this study found that the purpose of Li Gen-quan's creation was to make the Chinese-Korean people understand the revolutionary history of the nation and to make Chinese-Korean people feel national self-esteem and pride through novel methods.He intended to tell us through the novel that in the vast land of China,Koreans and Han revolutionary comrades fought side by side to expel the reactionary ruling class and made due contributions to the Chinese revolution.Therefore,we can see that Li Gen-quan,who is both party and government cadre and national cadre,has extremely high patriotism and national consciousness.Li Gen-quan is a writer who faithfully implements the policy of the Party.The party is an unshakable existence for him and has created a large number of literary works based on it.During the anti-rightist struggle,many writers were deprived of their creative rights.Li Gen-quan alone firmly held on to the status of the national writers in the Korean novel world.In this difficult period,he created his first novel "The Tiger Cliff."This is also the second novel in the history of Chinese-Korean literature.Although identity restrictions and language restrictions have affected the beauty of literature and art to a certain extent,Li Genquan' s novel is,in general,a representative of contemporary Chinese-Korean literature in terms of historical understanding,ethnic identity and other essential aspects.The work also occupied a place in the history of Chinese-Korean literature.
