Writing has always been a big challenge for senior high school students' English learning and it is also recognized as a difficulty for English teachers.Although the Ministry of Education has carried out the reform of English curriculum standards several times since 2003 and the importance of English writing has been clarified.However,from the analysis of college entrance examination papers over the years,students' achievements in English writing are still unsatisfactory.Therefore,the author tries to find out the main mistakes of students' English writing from the samples of senior high school students' English writing,probes into the causes of their errors,and attempts to apply the comparative analysis between English and Chinese in the teaching of English writing.In the same time,the author hopes to explore a more effective teaching strategy for English Writing.The author takes 112 students from two parallel classes of a senior middle school in Huangshi City,Hubei Province,as the object of investigation.It is an investigation based on the language transfer theory,comparative analysis theory,error analysis theory and interlanguage theory combined with literature analysis,corpus analysis,questionnaire survey methods.The survey found that the Chinese expression caused by the negative transfer of mother tongue is the main mistakes in high school English writing.Chinese expressions are mainly influenced by the interference of mother tongue,the influence of examination-oriented education,the students' basic English knowledge and the lack of self-awareness of writing.Through the analysis of the samples of students' English writing,the questionnaire survey of students and the discussion of the causes of the formation of Chinese expressions,this study put forward some strategies to deal with the problem of high school English writing:(1)to treat and deal with students' Writing in the "Chinese English" properly;(2)to focus on cultivating students' sense of English-Chinese contrast;(3)to expand reading,strengthen recitation,practice timely;(4)to optimize the way of correction and comment mode of composition.Finally,the author hopes that this study can help senior high school English teachers teach English writing more effectively,cultivate students' awareness of English-Chinese contrast,improve students' interest in English writing and reduce students' Chinese expressions.
