Sui and Tang Dynasties was the end of the long-term war between the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, after which China re-emerged as an important stage in the ancient East Asian world at that time, which further advanced in social politics, economy, and culture. At the same time,in East Asia,Goguryeo and Baekje, which were near to Chinese territory, had experienced gradual decline after experiencing the country' s overall rapid development. This article selects court music and dance with dual characteristics of politics and culture as its research object. The time range is demarcated from the 7th to the 9th century AD to discuss the cultural influence and exchanges between the Korean Peninsula represented by Goguryeo and Baekje and the Sui and Tang Dynasties. The reason why Baekje and Goguryeo were chosen among the three countries is that from historical records and later studies,Koguryo and Baekje music have more common features and are clearly distinguishable from Silla music, which are more convenient for discussion and research. This article starts with two topics, history and music, and are divided into lateral and vertical outlines.Lateral clues are the comparison of court music and dance, and vertical clues are the spread and communication of court music and dance in the Sui and Tang Dynasties. To be specific, lateral clues have two branches.First,it is to compare Bai jile dance and the Goguryu dance within the Korean peninsula.Second,on the on hand,it is to compare the Goguryeo and Bai ji music with the court music and dance of the same period in China.Lateral clues stand on the spread and return of court music and dance. On the one hand,we focus on the study of the representative of Ten Kabuki and Gogurygeo Kabuki. On the other hand,we will discuss the evolution of some representative musical instruments, such as Konghou and Geomungo. There are two central points in the article.First,it is the Goguryeo and Baekje factors in the court music and dance in the Sui and Tang Dynasties.Second,it is the influences the factors made.Although the final result in history is that Goguryeo and Baekje were conquered and beaten by Tang, this does not mean that Tang has absorbed Goguryeo and Baiji music unilaterally. In a long period in history, there was an interactive influence between Sui and Tang Dynasties and Koguryo and Korean Baekje music dance on the Korean peninsula. The influences do not only lie in music, but also in political aspects. The article consists in terms of introduction, discussion of thesis, and conclusion. In the introduction chapter, first I will talk about the research aim and the significance of the article.Second,I will discuss the previous academic research results. Finally,I will illustrate the research design that I employed in my article and the innovative methods. The second chapter talks about the introduction of the background of the Sui and Tang Dynastiesis, and its diplomatic relations with Goguryeo and Baekje. The formulation of the Sui and Tang dynasties and Goguryeo and Baekje's foreign policy was based on the interests of the country and was influenced by multiple factors such as politics, economy and culture. The third chapter consists of three parts.Firstly is the discussion of music and dance and court music. In this chapter I will evaluate music and dance' existence, and then the characteristics and the identifications of court music and dance.Music and dance originated from the unconscious activities of human beings, which, later on,gradually broke away from work and formed dance and music. After the continuous development of human society, music and dance had been given artistic value and became activities with social consciousness. As a kind of dance, court music and dance was accompanied by political character from the beginning, and it synchronized with the rise and fall of feudal dynasties and served as political behavior. As a result, the combination of political culture and music laid the tone of the full text in this section.Focused on the establishment and composition of seated-kabuki and stood-kabuki,the establishment and expansion of Yuefu were explored to illustrate that the court music and dance in Sui and Tang Dynasties were unprecedentedly developed and prospered.Additionally, this chapter also introduces the rural music and sorcery music that had the original characteristics of the Korean peninsula, and analyzes the Goguryeo and Baiji music about commonalities and differences. The fourth chapter is about the spread and fusion of the music and dance, which is the central content of the article.Goguryeo and Baiji music were collectively known as Goryeo Kabuki in the Sui and Tang Dynasties. This chapter starts with the literature and murals to discuss the relationship between the Ten Kabuki in Sui and Tang Dynasties and Gorgurygeo Kabuki. Then, three representative musical instruments were selected to discuss how music and dance flowed and interacted between China and the Korean Peninsula, from the spread and recurrence of lutes and the comparison of Konghou and Geomungo. Finally, the chapter discusses the causes and manifestations of the influence of court music and dances in Sui and Tang Dynasties on the historical process of East Asia, and to understand the present significance of traditional Chinese and Korean culture. The fifth chapter is the conclusion part of this article. It summarizes the viewpoints of the article.
