Locke's argumentation on moral education is mainly concentrated in Some Thoughts Concerning Education,which is not only the core part of Locke's educational thought,but also an indispensable part of his philosophy and political theory.This article discusses Locke's moral education thought mainly divided into three parts:The first part mainly introduces the forming condition and foundation of Locke's moral education thought.Among them,the forming conditions are mainly related to Locke's background of the times and his educational experience,and the main philosophical basis of the formation of thought is from the three aspects of human nature theory,empiricism epistemology and freedom view.On this basis,this paper tries to explore the connotation of moral education and its philosophical relevance.The second part expounds the connotation of Locke's moral education thought from three aspects: main content,main method and target quality.Locke attaches the importance to the cultivation of emotion,reason and free will of the educational object,and pays attention to the moral education of the educational object by means of the cultivation of habit,the imitation of example,the mobilization of subjective initiative and so on.At the same time,the identity of Locke's moral education object is multiple,a gentleman,a rational free person,and a free citizen,who have the good quality of virtue,wisdom and upbringing together.The third part makes a brief evaluation on Locke's moral education on the basis of his comprehensive understanding of its connotation.This paper analyzes the progressive nature of Locke's moral education thought and its influence on western education and enlightenment thinkers,and discusses the practical significance of this thought in view of the present situation of moral education in contemporary society.While affirming the contribution of Locke's moral education thought,it also objectively treats the limitation of the thought,in order to realize the correct understanding of Locke's moral education thought.
