Report On The Influence Of Attention Distribution On Simultaneous Interpreting Quality Under The Example Of Wu Xiaobo Channel

Simultaneous interpreting is the most difficult interpreting task among all kinds of interpreting activities.Because the biggest characteristic of simultaneous interpreting is that the interpreter needs to deal with many tasks with one brain at the same time,and this is also the biggest challenge for the simultaneous interpreter.So,if the interpreter cannot deal with many tasks with one brain at the same time during the process of simultaneous interpreting,he will not be able to pay balanced attention to many tasks.Then it will affect the quality of simultaneous interpreting,and even affect the conduction of simultaneous interpreting.This interpreting practice is a Chinese to English simultaneous interpreting to analyze the influence of attention distribution on simultaneous interpreting quality,which is based on the material of the dialogue between the host Wu Xiaobo and the gust Wu Jihong of the two sessions : “March 1st,2017-The Chinese Technology that Makes Siri Unemployed” and “March 8th,2017-Rrobot Era,What Should We Do?” selected form the talk show “Wu Xiaobo Channel”.In the process of this interpreting practice,the main influence of attention distribution on the quality of simultaneous interpreting is information loss during the expression of the target language interpreting when the interpreter can' t pay balanced attention in dealing with many tasks at the same time.So the main task of this interpreting practice is to analyze the causes of unbalanced attention distribution and find out relevant solutions so as to avoid the information loss in simultaneous interpreting caused by unbalanced attention distribution.The following conclusions were drawn from the analysis of the interpreting practice and the reference of a lot of relevant academic articles and books.First,the main reasons for unbalanced attention distribution: poor cognitive knowledge;lack of language ability;poor short-term memory;poor multitask-dealing ability.Second,relevant solutions: reading accumulation and preparation before interpreting;number interpreting skills;improving the interpreter's short-term memory by way of information visualization and information association;improving the interpreter's multitask-dealing ability by way of shadow training;properly using the interpretation strategy: prediction and discretionary adjustment.Interpreting is a kind of career in which the interpreter needs to learn throughout his whole life,especially simultaneous interpreting,which needs the interpreter to have a good accumulation of the professional knowledge at various fields in his daily life and summarize experience on interpreting practices.So the interpreter can make a wonderful performance during the process of a simultaneous interpreting,and can smoothly finish a simultaneous interpreting task and guarantee the quality of the simultaneous interpreting task.
