A Study On The Diachronic Evolution Of "一+VP" And Its Related Construction

The“一+VP”construction research mainly concentrated in the synchronic level,diachronic research is relatively weak,this paper applies the method of statistics、induction and exemplification,from the diachronic perspective of the“一+VP”construction is studied,including the“一+VP”construction、“V一V”and“VV”constructions,and explain the reasons for the evolution.The development of“一+VP”and related constructions has evolved from less to more,from simple to complex,and increasingly rich.The“一+VP”construction consists of“momentum of righteousness”representing a specific one-time action,develop“hypothesis of righteousness”in the Warring States Period,righteousness in the Wei and Jin dynasties developed“urgent”.The diachronic evolution of“一+VP”did not end in the Wei and Jin Dynasties,It has become more complex and diverse since then.“Momentum of righteousness”、“hypothesis of righteousness”and“urgent of righteousness”have existed in the literature.Among them,the subsequent evolution of“urgent of righteousness”is subdivided into“urgent perfection of righteousness”and“urgent intact of righteousness”,and“urgent perfection of righteousness”as the main principle,“urgent intact of righteousness”did not appear until the late Ming Dynasty.At the beginning of the construction of the“V一V”construction is the momentum combination,which means that“action or behaviour happen once”.In the Song Dynasty,“V一V”developed the use of verb reduplication,indicating“lightness”and“transitoriness”.The Ming and Qing Dynasties developed the meaning of“lightness”、“transitoriness”and“few”.Before the Tang and Five Dynasties,there was no example of“V一V”with the object in the literature.In the Song and Yuan Dynasties,there were a small number of“V一V”with the object,in the form of“VO一V”and“V一VO”.Since the Ming Dynasty,the phenomenon of“V一V”with the object has increased gradually,and the number of“VO一V”is the majority and occupies the advantage.The number of“V一VO”in the Qing Dynasty was mostly,in the present and contemporary times,and the format of“VO一V”was basically unused.The construction of“VV”is derived from the omission of“V一V”.In form,there is no relationship between the verb reduplication“VV₂”and the pre-qin period“VV₁”,they are isomorphic phenomena.The Song Dynasty was the sprout period of the“VV₂”construction,with less use cases.There were more use cases in the Ming Dynasty.In the early Ming Dynasty,the“VV₂”with objects came into being.There were two kinds of“VOV”and“VVO”.In the mid Ming Dynasty,it continued to the early Qing Dynasty,with the number of“VVO”in the majority.In the middle period of Qing Dynasty,there are two kinds of forms:VOV and VVO,regardless of object categories,occupy absolute advantage.VOV is basically useless.“一+VP”and“V一V”both contain a verb component and a quantity component“一”,which initially represent momentum,but because of the different locations of verb components,they have evolved in different directions.The occurrence of the verb reduplication“VV”is related to the verb phrase derived from the verbs in the Tang and Five Dynasties,“V一V”first generation,after the“VV”produced.After the“一”falls off,the“VV”is generated.In many cases,“V一V”and“VV”can be replaced and the meaning can be exchanged.
