Black feminism has been an indispensable part of contemporary feminists theory since 1970 s.When entering 21 st century, hip hop feminism becomes the latest form of black feminism. It not only inherits the tradition of black feminists theory but also develops their own propositions.Hip hop feminism is a bridge that connects the black feminists' thoughts of last century with contemporary black feminists' thoughts.Hip hop feminism,a part of black feminism,is influenced by hip hop culture and feminists movement. It shows us a new image of black women who bravely fight against multiple oppression and struggle for a new life.Hip hop feminists propose that black women should be respected by man and dare to revolt against racialism and sexism oppressions;black women should fight against patriarchal society with their black sisters and unite black men to fight against racialism oppression.Push,a masterpiece of African American writer Sapphire, tells a story of a black girl named Claireece Precious Jones who is raped by her father and gives birth to two children.By receiving education and learning to write,Precious recognizes the reality of the society. She gradually falls in love with writing, uses writing as her weapon to fight against patriarchal oppression, and finally starts a new life.In her poems, she not only openly revolts against racialism and sexism discrimination, but also describes a blueprint of future.Precious is the prototype of hip hop feminists. Her growing process reflects hip hop feminism's propositions.By making advantage of hip hop feminism theory, this thesis analyzes how Precious under multiple oppression mentally grows in Push.By analyzing hip hop feminism elements reflected in Push, the thesis suggests that the way to growth and change is long and hard, but if black women have the courage to struggle for a new life, unite black sisters and black men,and fight against unfair fate, they would be free from multiple oppression and start a new life.
