English Curriculum Standards for Ordinary Senior High School stipulates that according to the requirement of English course for extracurricular audio-visual activities and extracurricular reading,teachers should guide students to combine in class learning with extracurricular learning with modern technology.Therefore,teachers should actively develop more abundant and valuable learning resources with students,and encourage students to carry out independent learning,cooperative learning and exploratory learning.Flipped classroom model closely relates the activities of in class and out of class as well as concentrate on the characteristic of student-centered.WeChat,as a special mobile social network application,has been widely applied in education.It conforms to the requirements of combining in class learning with extracurricular learning and developing students autonomous learning ability of English course.Shu(2014)points out students have weak autonomous learning ability and low enthusiasm for participating in the classroom.Based on the above background and constructivism theory,the study mainly answers the following three questions:(1)Can WeChat based flipped classroom model develop students' English autonomous learning ability?(2)Can WeChat based flipped classroom model stimulate students' enthusiasm for participating in English classroom?(3)Can WeChat based flipped classroom model improve students' English grades?The “three stages and six links” WeChat based flipped classroom teaching model is constructed with rapid development of information technology,education functions of WeChat and design principles of flipped classroom model.It is based on constructivism theory and guided by the English Curriculum Standards for Ordinary Senior High School.Teaching content,teaching objects,teaching requirements and characteristics of environment and students of senior high school English are considered.The “three stages” refers to knowledge input stage before class,knowledge internalization stage in class and knowledge transfer stage after class.The “six links” refers to the following links: teachers guide students to do autonomous learning and students do autonomous learning before class;teachers promote students to do knowledge internalization and students join in discussions and give reports in class;teachers assist students on knowledge transfer and students do autonomous learning after class.Each link also contains a variety of teaching activities,forming a complete teaching process.WeChat official accounts and group chats are created and applied to teaching practice.Research subjects are 120 students in Class 6,Grade 10 and Class 16,Grade 10 from Tianshui No.1 Senior High School.The grades of two classes before the experiment are compared,and they are equivalent.Students' English autonomous learning ability and enthusiasm for participating in English classroom of a semester are studied and analyzed by questionnaire and interview.English grades of two classes before and after the experiment are compared and analyzed and influence of WeChat based flipped classroom teaching model on English grades of senior high school students is explored.The experimental data show that WeChat based flipped classroom model develops students' English autonomous learning ability,stimulates students' enthusiasm for participating in English classes and improves students' English grades.The “three stages and six links” WeChat based flipped classroom model thinks highly of education functions of WeChat,making up for the deficiencies of lacking autonomous learning test before class and autonomous learning after class.It can develop students' English autonomous learning ability.Various evaluation forms and interactive activities are throughout the whole model can help stimulate students' enthusiasm for participating in English classroom.It can also improve students' English grades.The innovation of the study is:(1)WeChat based flipped classroom model is constructed and applied to senior high school English teaching;(2)measures of developing students' English autonomous learning ability and stimulating students' enthusiasm for participating in English classroom are explored,and its feasibility and rationality are verified through the application research.Under the tendency of mobile education,teachers should constantly improve their information technology literacy,update the teaching ideas,actively explore new teaching pattern,solve the problems in traditional teaching,and promote the improvement of students' integrated language capabilities by combining new technology with teaching.The study provides practical experience for the application of flipped classroom model in senior high school English teaching and provides a new teaching model for senior high school English teaching.Because the application of flipped classroom model is still in the exploratory stage in China,the effectiveness of WeChat based flipped classroom model needs to be tested and completed in future teaching practice.
