Influence Factors And Intervention Of Sensitivityto Parental Reward And Punishment In ODD Children

This study consists of two researches: the first research contains two experiments(experiment 1 and experiment 2),which both adopt Emotion Stroop paradigm.Pure punishment condition and pure reward condition are set up and punishment and reward are subdivided into different types to explore the ODD's sensitivity of different types of parental punishment and reward(the interactive level),and the role of parent-child attachment(relationships level).The second research(experiment 3)contains one experiment,adopting point detection paradigm.Rewards and punishment mixing condition is set up and reward is subdivided into different types to explore the influence of different reward to ODD's attentional bias towards punishment.The first experiment found that children with ODD respond faster than the control group under all experimental conditions(prime type: corporal punishment,deprivation,criticism,indifference,neutrality).Children with ODD are more sensitive to corporal punishment,but there is no difference between ODD and control group in other types of punishment.Parent-child attachment can significantly predict the sensitivity of the subjects to deprivation and criticism.Experiment 2 found that children with ODD respond faster than the control group under all experimental conditions(prime type: material reward,social reward,neutral stimulus).Children with ODD are more sensitive to reward,which is caused by the activation of the word meaning processing,but the control group show the opposite trend.The sensitivity to the material reward of ODD group and the control group is affected by attachment.The control group with higher level of attachment is less sensitive to the material reward,while the ODD group is opposite.Experiment 3 found that children have stronger sensitivity to corporal punishment than the other three types of punishment.Both material reward and social reward priming are able to improve the sensitivity to punishments.Further analysis found that social reward priming mainly has effect in deprivation,criticism and indifference,while material reward improves ODD's sensitivity to corporal punishment.Conclusions of the study are as follows: ODD children have different sensitivity to different punishments and rewards.ODD children were more sensitive to corporal punishment and social reward.The sensitivity of material reward of two groups is affected by the level of parent-child attachment.Reward priming improve the sensitivity to punishments.
